Eh, he's about fifty-fifty.

And the problems start to worm their way into the conversation when one starts to notice that even some of his solid points are solid by some fairly shaky margins.

Yes, the Duel of Fates was absolutely, hands down freaking epic. And some of the other duels were pretty badass too but there were too many of them, too many of the were largely pointless and by the time we finally got around to the one we were supposed to really, really, really care about we were suffering severe saber fatigue. And that one didn't help matters by drawing a duel of already suspect interest through a lava parkour course.

But yeah, Duel of Fates was the freaking shit.

Still, he does get points for making a coherent defense for the things he likes without completely glossing over the shortcomings of those very things.

After I sleep (and the ambien wears off) I might take a closer lookbut 50/50 seems just about right tight about now.

Not sure who really cares about this. They are not beloved by the masses. They aren't and never will be. Some of us like them and that's fine but I am not sure why everyone feels the need to try and keep changing someones mind on the issue because its not ever going to happen. If they would release the UOT in HD then the hate for the PT might subside as least in this thread.

The films were released in an age where there were too many as good or better films/special effects in the Adventure/Sci Fi era. Matrix, LOTR for example. The OT did not have that problem. Star Trek was far different than Star Wars (unlike today).

So repeat after me everyone: They are not as beloved, looked upon or considered game changers in film history. They are not even the best films in thier respective genre from 1999-2005. We can still like/love them but they will never get the respect or nod that the UOT gets.

In the U.S. I've got to believe they will re-run all six movies (probably SEs) in the theaters before new one.

Good bit of posting, that. Heck, the creation of the film as Lucas tells it is a far more fantastical story than the films themselves.

Maybe you all can help me. After wading through 2709 posts im still a little unclear on some issues.

1. Is the PT underrated?
2. Is the OT overrated?
3. Do you think the UOT will ever see the light of day in HD?
4. What is the best order to watch these in?
5. What is the definition of a true fanboy? Is a fanboy an UOT lover? Or a PT lover? or do they love both?

I hope Disney doesn't want to miss the change of making money. When a new movie comes it's a right moment to release the originals.

Are there any plans for larger theater chains to re-re-release the entire saga on the big screen before 7?

Honestly, I implore all of you to read JW Rinzler's Making of Star Wars. It's given me a whole new appreciation for what Lucas did that I never had before. It's incredible. I'm only about half way through but the stuff Lucas had to do and how close this got to never being made...I really feel like I used to take this franchise for granted. Not so much anymore.
