You make some good points. Bottom line: I guess that if the new release doesn't really improve the Iraq scenes as much as I'd expect, then once and for all it would simply come back to the way they were filmed originally.

Not that I'd get the chance to compare them as I have no intentions on re-buying the new Blu-Ray, even if it is a 4K scan, when the current 2K release looks damn good already IMO..

Batmon77, Father Dyer only gave the necklace back and talked to Kinderman in the extended edition. In the theatrical cut he keeps the necklace and the film ends when he walks away from the stairs.

The 25th Anniversary, which is what you said you had, is the Theatrical Cut (ish).

I bought this when it came out on BD and i gotta say, EXCELLENT picture and sound quality for a film from 1973 and the studio with Friedkin with pals did a great job restoring the film on both cuts that you think it was filmed in 2009 and lots of goodies as it's an improvement over the previous DVDs.

Thanks WB for doing great on a horror masterpiece justice.

Default Exorcist original version

Is this the only Blu-ray of the Exoricst that has the original version?

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-E...Blu-ray/57331/

Because I'd rather not have the ridiculous 2000 version at all but if that's the only option I guess I'd take it.

As of right now, yes. It has both the original and directors cut. Also, the anthology with the original and sequels has both cuts as well.

There's also a DigiBook with the "theatrical" cut included. I put it in quotes because the true theatrical cut hasn't been released on Blu-ray. It's actually the 25th anniversary edition with the CGI face morph instead of the jump cut.

Oh, so even the version I linked to (and the version Dylan34 mentioned) is not the true cut. Fair enough. It's close enough, I guess; as long as the added scenes of Regan getting all the psychological tests done and the obscenely idiotic Casablanca-referential-ending scene aren't there, it's good enough.

Thanks guys

Aside from the morph on Damien, it is the original version (unless you count the updated WB logo and a single card of restoration credits at the very end, but there are plenty of other movies that have had that sort of thing added).

Yes, the theatrical is the theatrical except for the Karas morph, updated logo which I hate, and has the aqua color during the exorcism instead of the natural color timing. If all was fixed, it would be one badass blu-ray! !!

The morph just doesn't bother me. It is one extra frame. The new logo looks cool as well. I love this blu.

I watched my theatrical edition for the first time a few weeks ago and this scene wasn't there, I tought it was from the TC. The image fades out with Chris crying, they don't show Regan.

Did the hospital sequence here made anyone squirm or shocked when they saw it? it did to me when i was a kid seeing this on video with my family as i turned green and nearly turned away and almost fainted, it still does make me ill even how realistic that scene is.

When I saw this movie with my parents as a child (in the theatre). This was the part that disturbed me the most. The other stuff not so much...still a favorite film of mine.

Default Spoiler Question: Need Exorcist Expert

I was 13 when this was released. My family waited on a long line to see this. While everyone in the theatre gasped, my family laughed our butts off. Needless to say, there was nothing in this film that was scary. The only good thing was the cute Linda Blair (hey, we were the same age).

When VHS were first released. I rented this and still hated it. I watched parts on TV and still couldn't stand it. But, now I bought (really cheap) the extended version blu ray and I'm confused. Because extended movies usually add scenes and don't take away anything.

So, if you're an Exorcist expert perhaps you can help.

I thought (I'm not positive) there was a scene in the Exorcist where Father Karras is in a sanitarium type place. there were rows of cots. I think he was drunk and hallucinating about his dead mother. Whatever scene it was, it was long and boring. Yet, it never showed up in the extended version.

Am I just wrong about this scene?

BTW: Still laughed my butt off at all the supposed "scary" scenes. Actually they're more funny now then they were back in the 70s.

Even the most rudimentary of google searches would disagree with you. Congrats on being a tough guy at the age of 13 and now. I'd help to answer your question, but I don't think that's really what you were after since you felt the need to post how un-scary the film was not once but twice in your post.

Thus completely ruining the experience for all the normal people who were trying to enjoy the movie, for sure.

I don't what possesses people (no pun intended) to behave like idiots and then boast about it as if they were superior.
