Also, I guess he's retired now, but I always wanted to see Lucas make those microbudget short films he kept talking about wanting to get to. It would be interesting to see him do something that was closer to THX 1138 than Star Wars and see how it would turn out.
He's probably got a do not compete in sci-fi genre clause in that sale contract stopping him from doing anything that remotely resembles star wars.

I'd be fine with a Willow II: Val Kilmer's Mortgage Payment is Due, American Graffiti III: Get Off My Lawn! with Harrison Ford, or Howard, the Duck II: Guardians of the Egg... really, that's about the extent of the man's genius ever was.

Pretty sure Disney owns Howard now, as he's a featured player in their Infinity War cycle, so no luck there...

Doesn't even have to be sci-fi necessarily, but I don't know what his supposed "ideas" for these films would be. Part of why I would like to see him make one or more of those films is it would finally be something else besides his apparent obsession to make a film based off of the "old serials like Flash Gordan."

Even that crappy movie "Red Tails" (which he didn't direct but apparently had a big hand in creatively) was still him trying to make a "purposely hokey and stilted" movie based on the old movie serials. He also claims the stiff acting and dialog of the prequels was "on purpose" and it was an "acting style" based on those kind of films.

Thats why I'm curious to see him approach something entirely different and without the massive budget to do whatever he wants with CGI effects. Something with a completely different mindset, possibly how he would have kept going back in the 70's if Star Wars ended up being a flop.

I doubt he's going to do it, as you'd think he would have by now if he had any creative spark to get it done. But it seems like he was pretty much just happy to raise his kids and build a business for most of his life instead, aside from doing his Star Wars prequel trilogy.

Seriously, Leia doesn't wait to get shot at. She shoots first in Star Wars, and then shoots first again in Jedi.

Chewie strangles first.

If you make it through more than 30 seconds of that video I think you get some kind of special award.

The "Cows Go Moo" picture that I posted (which for some reason has since been deleted) was not directed at you. It was just meant to be random and silly to lighten the mood of all of the back and forth.

I thought that should have been "rather" obvious, but apparently it needs to be spelled out for you.

I got halfway through: it's completely mental.

I always thought it would be cool if it turned out Jar Jar was a genius who did a lot to influence events behind the scenes. And whenever anybody was around he would go all "Clark Kent" and act like a clowny buffoon to allay any suspicion.

I buy it

Isn't retconning Jar Jar to make him "cool", the same tinkering as Han/Greedo remix?

Not at all, the original movie itself remains the same, just seen in a new context.

Random question for everyone on this board. I bought the set not long after it came out and somehow never got around to watching Return of the Jedi. Much to my surprise when today it stops playback early on in the film. There's a giant gash in the disc that I'm assuming came from the packaging. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, did Fox provide any kind of a swap/replacement program? I know I can now go grab another copy for $17 to replace it but I shouldn't have to when the set was already expensive. Would love any feedback.

Could Abrams recapture the magic that Lucas himself summoned only intermittently in his three digitized prequels, in between council-meeting scenes and wretched dialogue ("I don't like sand")?

Did you just hear that soft boom off in the distance? That was the sound of Bluyoda's head exploding.

For some reason, eh?

Oh, how witty you are. How very proud you must be of yourself for being such an accomplished human being. Bravo.

Star Wars threads bring out the worst in people. Kind of like acting when Lucas is directing you.
