Just got back and I'll give it a solid 4. Not everything sticks the landing, but it was laugh out loud funny at so many points and wonderfully fast paced. Seriously, this film has like no down time.

Found this to be overrated. I was told how clever and original it was and thought I was in for something much better. I found myself thinking about how much better this movie could have been. Ryan Reynolds is obviously perfect as Deadpool, and has great chemistry with Morena Baccarin. TJ Miller I expected to be very annoyed at but found him to be surprisingly entertaining.

To start from the beginning I absolutely loved the opening intro, and I thought I was in for something more. I liked how Ryan Reynolds poked fun of himself, I enjoyed the parody of superhero films in general, but I just feel this movie could have been much funnier. I honestly didn't genuinely laugh that hard other than once. I found myself predicting most of these jokes and found the film very juvenile and just trying way too hard to be overly raunchy and crude, just for the sake of it.

If you want to see an R-Rated comic book movie really done right, see Kick-Ass. That movie found the perfect blend between humor, gory stylistic action, and overall raunchyness. I feel like someone like Edgar Wright ot Mathew Vaughn would have done a good job directing this, because for a movie that's so stylistic, it also feels kinda bland. I didn't think the CGI was that good, and was overused.

I found the second half especially lacking, with a lame final fight scene I just felt like this was nothing that new, nothing that refreshing. It just felt like a very raunchy and violent Ant-Man. The 4th wall breaking, while fine, I can't say was really original. We just saw The Big Short last year, where 4th wall breaking was utilized in a way we've never seen it. I liked the character of Deadpool, and I think Reynolds nailed it, but overall.....it was aight.

6.6/10

I was hoping they found a way to have Deadpool ride a
[Show spoiler]unicorn & have a rainbow shoot out it's horn
, they did, they cheated, but they did & I was very happy about it.

Movie is awesome, go see it this weekend if you can. I saw in a Prime auditorium in NYC, movie ended around 6:30PM. When we were leaving, the lobby was near max capacity & one of the employees was yelling out that all Deadpool showings were sold out. I've gone to this same theater every "blockbuster" on opening day since they opened the Prime auditorium & I've never seen the lobby that full. Granted I'm sure that not everybody went to see Deadpool but a lot of people did turn around & leave after that announcement.

Anybody else found it weird that they mentioned
[Show spoiler]Blade 2 & not Blade 3?

5/5, not a perfect movie, but it's all the fun in the world.

4 Stars for me. Great movie, loved it a lot, very funny. My only real complaints with it are:

It was too short, I'm all for a tight runtime but Deadpool was so damn good, another 10-20 mins really wouldn't have hurt it.

A few of the Ikea / Furniture jokes were not that great (at least for me anyway)

No voices in his head.

So nothing major wrong really, maybe the Unrated cut will make it a 5 star but overall it was still brilliant and I cannot wait for the sequel.

I also think another 10 mins or so wouldn't have hurt. The last quarter felt a little rushed and formulaic (and thus anti-climactic as a result). Still a very fun movie nonetheless.

I was reading that they had to cut 7 million out of the budget for the film to get it green-lit, which affected the final showdown (
[Show spoiler]the gag where he leaves his duffle bag in the Taxi is a response to that
). A big shame, but at least we know there won't be any budget cuts on the sequel after this weekend.

Seriously? Thats where the film strays towards familiar ground and ceases being unique.

This was made on $58 million which is a nothing budget. Joy, which is all talk, has a $60 million production budget. Deadpool is a HUGE win for Fox with a record haul for a Feb Friday of $41 million . Deadpool's initial weekend is assured to be a Feb record and it has a change at $300 million domestic.

The sequel will be VERY well funded .

Is there a source to that?

I read that it cut down three roles to one w/ Angel Dust and something more. But not that what you mentioned being a nod to the budget cut.

I saw this last night and liked it did not love it. I found the Deadpool sections to be entertaining, but didn't care for the Wade Wilson parts much. Also wasn't too interested in the love aspect even though i knew that going in. My favorite part was actually the bonus credits scene. I am such a fan of the movie it is based on that I had a huge smile on my face during it. Overall though it is a 3/5 for me.

On a side note people suck. My showtime was sold out except a few seats in the very from rows. I had an a hole in front of me who reclined all the way back as far as the seat could go which is too damn far imo. I am over 6 foot tall and he kept hitting my damn knees. He knew he was doing this, but seemed to not give a damn. I wish there was another seat to move to. I'm not the confrontational person to say anything. I wish i did.

Totally agree as well, when I read that story I said to myself "ah, so that explains it".

Insane. At $118-$123M, the 3-day weekend gross alone is on track to beat a couple of the Hunger Games movies, most of the Harry Potters, most of the Transformers, all of the X-Men,... and so many more major blockbusters. It will be about #20 of all films, and by far the #1 R rated opening.

So happy to see that it's opening with such large numbers!

Here's my second review.

Quote:

Original Review

Even better the second time around, with a packed theater. Everything felt as fresh as it did the first time - even the jokes, which usually never hit as hard as when they were first heard. The action sequences were even more exciting, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is beginning to sound like the greatest casting of all-time in my nerdy mind.

Deadpool is admittedly not a movie for everyone, but it's definitely THE movie for any fan of the merc with a mouth out there. Not only am I calling it'll be my favorite comic-book movie of the year, I'm also counting on it to be the funniest comedy of the year, period.

Maximum effort. The folks behind this movie gave us theirs.

Either that or Fox are secretly working behind the scenes to align with the current MCU like Sony are doing in new Spiderman. Would be interesting to see the X Men end up in Infinity War against Thanos in some way.

We had two girls in our theater that were on their phones during the film. If only we went to an Alamo Drafthouse to see this. They would've been booted out of the theater.
