I rarely ground myself and have never had any problems over the last 12 years. The only time I do ground myself is when the air is dry and static easily builds up. I had no problem when I did my upgrade it only took a few minutes. What took time was backing up the old hard drive and restoring it to the new one. But at least the PS3 has a process to backup and restore everything which made the upgrade process that much better.

But this is a 2.5 we're talking about. That means they are intending them to go in Laptops, and it needs to be the standard form factor, so that shouldn't even be an issue. If it doesn't fit, I think ya got full right to complain to the point of purchase/manufacturer. |

Hmm, didn't realize that, that's a really low time. That'll affect load times of anything going to or from the hd [Saving primarily], especially for stuff thta actually needs to seek.

BTW is the cache 8mb on the original HDD? I think it is but it could be less. |

If the cache is bigger then the original HDD. It could equal out, if not, I totally agree with Shin.

True. You never know with specs. And I think it will need a good speed as the Cell eats information so fast.

Than you for all the replies, i was just wondering whether the RPM of 5400 vs 4200 really was a factor in choosing or it was fininding a HDD with a similar cache and response time of 12ms that really mattered.
I ask this because i thought the cache and response time was actually a factor in the HDD being able to access the data quick enough rather than the RPM. |
