I saw "Halloween" on British broadcast TV when I was 10 years old (it was "uncut" I believe). My parents were incredibly lax when it came to my viewing habits at home I guess.

Not to put a date on myself, as my birthday is coming up soon and I feel ancient, but I saw "Star Wars" in 1978, the earliest I could see it as we had to wait for it to come to our local cinema in Canterbury (England) - the cinema is site of the "new" Marlowe Theatre now... and I also saw "The Smurfs and the Magic Flute" and that cheap American Spider-man TV movies they released theatrically in Europe on their first (and only?) release there.

Can we change the title of this thread to "The Geezer Thread"?

Wow! What a bunch of old farts! I wasn't even born when Halloween and Star Wars first came out. I'm 28 by the way and going on 30 but I feel like 50. According to my family tree, I won't make it past age 70

My secret to staying young? Old whiskey and young women.

Actually I think that's a song, but good advice nonetheless.

Definitely saw StarWars in the theaters.

Remeber when Empire came out and they released yoda and Boba fett, before we even knew who they were??

Remember the whole sticker thing with Boba fett and how he was supposed to have a firing missle on his back.

Damn...good times.

I was twenty-three when Star Wars hit the theaters. So yeah, I'm an old phart. My wife and I avoided seeing it at first because of the long lines at the box offices. After about four months it was still showing but the lnes had diminished. We decided to go and see what all the fuss was about.

WOW! I can't wait to see it on my 56" screen.

I wonder -- who amongst you young whippersnappers can identify my avatar? No, it is NOT a Klingon bus token.

Fett appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) way before Empire.

OK-I saw 3D movies in the '50s. I saw Old Yeller, The War of the Worlds and The Blob with some new guy named Steve McQueen when they first came out. My mom took me to see Dial M For Murder and From Here to Eternity.
The movie theater I used to go had a "kiddie" matinee on Saturday afternoon.
For a dime, you got to see 2 movies, 3 cartoons and a news reel
When I was born, a new car cost $1,220, gas was 21 cents/gal, a new house cost $8,600. Bread was 9 cents/loaf and milk was 62 cents/gal-not a quart. A stamp was 3 cents.
Of course, the average annual salary was $2,600
So, I'm probably the oldest guy here in age, and I'm here to tell you that Blu-ray ROCKS.
Stay young at heart, your kids will appreciate it
