Hello guys!
I was revisiting the amazing Collector's Edition set this week and noticed that I never watched and downloaded the features through BD-Live. I tried to access it but couldn't find any feature in there.

I'm using a PS3 with the latest firmware. Do any of you guys know if the BD-Live feature is still working or is it just me not being able to use it?

The problem is that I can access the BD-Live feature. It shows that it's downloading new content, then I enter the BD-Live portal but there's nothing there to download. And if I try to go left or right the screen goes black and I have to press Top Menu to go back to the Avatar menu screen.
I checked and this happened to other people as well.

Curious and curiouser...

It isn't. Expect it closer to its sequels release.

So has anyone put the BDLive extras on the internet somewhere? I can't access it, not from my blu ray player or PS3.

What a wonderful and totally not outdated and pointless invention BDlive was!

Why does this movie get so much hate across the web? Criticizing this movie's story for being "unoriginal" is completely redundant. That's like criticizing Reservoir Dogs for ripping off City on Fire, or Star Wars for ripping off The Hero with a Thousand Faces and The Hidden Fortress.

Who knows, and it doesn't bother me that it gets it's fair share of hate. I love the movie, and that's all that matters to me.

For all the haters, you just gotta remember, there are a great number of fans too. That being said, bring on the sequels Cameron.

It's pretty much an animated movie, which bugs me as I am not a big fan of animation (and thus "live-action" movies filled with animation). Also I found the script super cheesy and unoriginal. I think the hate is mostly directed at those two things.

If you don't mind movies filled with CGI and focus on action more that the script then it's probably still a classic. Everyone is different.

It's a great movie - and it's not "animated" it's an impressive example of "action capture". People knew going in what the deal was, if you don't like that kind of imaginative, technology driven movie, stay away. Avatar set new standards for "creating" a "new world" - it's a visual feast - and the acting, when not "action captured", was fine. Again, not everyone's cuppa tea. As far as the hatrers, eh, that's what they do.

Just dug out my set. Haven't watched it in several years. I would say that's a glaring omission to me as well.

Watched the third, longest, cut. Absolutely loved it again. Reminded me why I liked the film so much back in 2009. Although I have to say a LOT of the live action stuff is weirdly out of focus.

I'm frothing at the mouth at the idea that Cameron could do a re-mixed Atmos track with HDR for a future 4K UHD edition before Avatar 2. That would be amazing.

I bet you have never even seen The Hidden Fortress nor read The Hero with a Thousand Faces, right? Your comparison is ludicrous at best.
Avatar's characters are paper thin albeit in 3-D.
It has some nice scenery and a great message, but James Cameron is an awful writer of dialogue..., and the story has been told very similarly many times, and way better, which sort of leaves us with tons of CG and and empty experience, but glad you dig it so much.

Not everyone agrees with "characters are paper thin" or the rest of it. One of the problems with "social media" posts is people making judgments and taking those judgments way too seriously - on both sides. Hey, you, and others, don't like Cameron - okay, fine, who cares? Why watch his films? Why take the time to comment? It's not like you did an important review for the NYT or RS or whatever. I dug the film and disagree completely with such criticism, mainly because it's all waste of time.

Nothing's gonna change, the sun's still gonna come around when we rotate (hopefully ), so ... "Post World" would be a much happier place if more folks posted about things they liked and ignored things they didn't like. Things which very few liked would simply fade away. And I'm not equating you or your comment with the ugly, empty-lived "haters". They're an ongoing problem until happiness reigns supreme.

One of my biggest pet peeves in this modern world is people reading some complaints on social media or in the comments section and then using phrases like "most people didn't like this." Unless you take a massive poll all across the nation (or the world) then you have no idea what most fans thought, shut the f' up. IMDB user rating average is probably the closest thing we have to a poll like that and Avatar has a 7.9, which is a damn good score.

That said, I thought it was a poor movie.

Now that James Cameron is in the Avatar business, I wonder how relevant the sequels will be when they're finally released. The first one re-introduced 3D to the world, which contributed to its success.

I saw Avatar twice theatrically (3D both times) and I think once on Blu-ray back when the original release came out (never bought the more elaborate edition or the 3D), but haven't seen it since. Gave it a rewatch on Sunday, and was nervous that it might not have aged well and that, especially with how much negativity there it towards this movie online, I wouldn't enjoy the movie as much as I had 5-6 years ago.

Happy to say that I still had a blast, and that the movie holds up just fine, even in good old-fashioned 2D. Not anywhere near Cameron's best work (although it might be Horner's; the score really clicked with me this time), but the CGI still looks great, the relationship between Jake and Neytiri is still involving and the supporting characters, though largely archetypes, are at least well-acted and fun to watch (especially Lang, Weaver, and Rodriguez). The BD is still among the better discs I own, and overall I really can't wait to get more movies set in this universe.

On Disc #2 of the 3 Disc Extended Edition Bluray, there is a short Scene of a Woman (wearing RED) walking through a Cemetery with a Little Gray Alien. What is this??? Is it a scene or trailer from another movie? It seems so out of place from everything else. All it says it thats its from "LightStorm Entertainment. Does anybody know?

Shocked I have not seen any info for this in 4K yet. Figured this would be one of the first. Have not seen the movie since it was in theaters.
