This is what we posted at another forum in response to the same question:

Our license has not expired -- Sony were put under a bit of internal political pressure to reissue the film for its 50th anniversary, and consulted with us regarding a solution. We mutually agreed to keep our release in print in conjunction with theirs, and as the conflict imposes on our 3 year window, Sony generously gave us some other titles as a quid pro quo. No sweat. Not a problem at all.

There are copies of Oliver back in stock on SAE.

The Bounty came in the mail yesterday. Woo hoo!

My last remaining order, Pony Soldier and Nicholas and Alexandra, left the Virginia initial location, was shipped to Atlanta, GA (I live in the metro Atlanta area), then sent to Memphis, TN, then sent to Maryland, where it is awaiting shipment to destination now.
I guess that these two Blu-rays need to sow their wild oats and experience the world before they arrive at my doorstep. In all honesty, I'm happy for them, and I would like to live vicariously through them. I wish that I had traveled more and seen the world when I was younger, so I want all of my Blu-rays to do the things that I never did.

LOL. Reminds me of a recent package I had that went from Virginia to Dallas to Los Angeles to Vancouver to Calgary and then to me in Saskatoon, so basically one big clockwise trip around the continent.

Finally got around to taking advantage of the sale and ordered 8 movies. Oliver! was one of them (it said 5 left when I ordered).

Also got:

The Little House
Stormy Weather
The Young Lions
The Remains of the Day
The Bounty
Zulu
House of Bamboo

I would have ordered more but like others I'm finding my backlog of unwatched movies growing and growing. So I'm trying to find a sweet spot of taking advantage of sales, but not so much so that, by the time you get around to watching them, they are even cheaper. I'll still have quite a few TT movies I haven't watched yet so I can't get as crazy as I used to buying movies.

Edit: just checked after this post and it appears Oliver! is sold out.

Approximately 50 copies of John Ford's classic "DRUMS ALONG THE MOHAWK" remain in the SAE sale...and owing to some order cancellations last night there are still 10 copies of "OLIVER!" available for those who missed out.

I doubt that it has sold nearly that many. Moby Dick has been out in various formats for years. There's been an older MGM DVD, a newer KLSC DVD as well a region A Australian release. Granted, in terms of PQ the TT release is tops, but what makes Moby Dick so special that it would sell out in months when other great titles have languished for years?

I really think that there are people who, for whatever reasons, are trying to incite panic buying of Moby Dick. I blame the Russians.

Seriously, until I see an official LQA from Twilight Time or Oildude, I'm going to write this off as another fake news story.

Glad I picked up Oliver and Drums Along The Mohawk from this sale, especially if they're going to sell out.

Finally got a shipping confirmation today for St. Valentine's Day Massacre, which I ordered on Nov. 22. I'd forgotten about all about it.

Drums = Great movie: classic Ford & gorgeous 3 strip technicolor. A real bargain. HIGHLY recommended!

I haven't watched it yet, I bought it because ever since I saw "The Palm Beach Story" last year, I have had a bit of a thing for Claudette Colbert; I've blind bought a few movies because of it, and the only one I was disappointed in was the one with John Wayne. This doesn't seem like exactly what I like best about her, I like her best in the two Lubitsch movies she did, but I'm definitely going to get around to watching this at some point. The price made it impossible for me not to finally bite on it.

Poor Oliver! That kid doesn't know if he's coming or going. It might be the first TT title that has sold out several times and still has a few copies left

I live in Georgia as well and the same thing happened to my shipment from SAE! Via the tracking it's states "Undeliverable as addressed". That's a load of bunk. I'm guessing the Post Office screwed up and put a bunch of stuff on the wrong truck. Good one!

Irrelevant figures really once you factor in the fact they made billions in profit off of the same purchases.

In fact the profits have gone up not down overall. A larger loss with free shipping means they are shipping more.

The cost of prime is not factored into those "loss on shipping" figures. They also raised the minimum purchase price for free shipping over the same period. The figure you provided is completely misleading in evaluating profitability.

They had profits of around 5 Billion per quarter this year on Media sales alone.

Amazon amortizes the Prime fees over the life of the membership thus the cost of Prime is inherently included in those figures; net shipping costs = shipping revenue* - shipping expenses. Shipping expenses > shipping revenue = shipping loss.
