Alien and Aliens already received 4K masters back when the original set was released.

That's coming eventually I would think from Fox. They're probably waiting for the 40th anniversary of Alien 2019, but it could also coincide with the release of Alien: Covenant as well within the next year.

Well, if they're going for a tie-in with Covenant, they better get moving. It comes out in May, and there's yet to be even a hint of a UHD version.

I just hope it's gonna be sooner than 2019. And that they don't cheap out and leave Alien 3 and Resurrection on BD. They're not good movies, but if you're gonna make a UHD box set, you should go all the way.

I think a UHD of Prometheus is the likelier candidate for a promo op with Covenant, as I can't see Fox re-releasing the quadrilogy on 4K unless they can do the whole thing, that's been their preferred method of attack for this series for about 20 years now. So yeah, while Alien and Aliens in 4K wouldn't be a problem, getting 4K out of Alien³ and Resurrection would be a bit more costly to do it right so it could well be that we don't see them in UHD until the next big anniversary.

I think so too, because there's no reason to exactly just re-print the box set again otherwise.

As for the UHD version that someone said including Prometheus, I know that'll likely happen. But do I want it? No.

2019 is about the right time unless they include covenant and bring it out in 2018

With the upcoming release of the new Alien and Predator sequels any chance that every single film of these franchises will get a UHD? Including the AVP films and Prometheus? I hope we would get a proper Predator release without obnoxious DNR, the 3D was wasted on a terrible master of the film. While Prometheus looks absolutely gorgeous on 3D blu-ray I want to see if it can look even better.

There's a chance for PREDATOR because there's a 2K remaster debuting in France this summer. I'm sure it'll be released in time on blu-ray for THE PREDATOR

I doubt they ever bother with the expense of remastering Alien 3, Resurrection or the AVP movies. I mean maybe, who knows, but I doubt it. Maybe a label someday. Standalone UHDs of Alien and Aliens (using the existing masters) are definitely possible, depending on how Fox thinks older movies are selling on the format. Prometheus seems like a no-brainer to cross-promote with Covenant. Surprised it wasn't already announced.

I am mostly concerned though with a UHD release for both the first two Predator films. All the other films I think and hope would receive a proper remaster. Predator was the victim of heavy DNR and I want a UHD of the film's original look. Predator 2 was not as bad and is the best version so far but there is room for improvement.

The Prometheus to Alien set has it. I paid under $10 for the 8 disc set on Amazon UK.

I like the movie just fine as it is, but it could definitely do with some fleshing out.
