I know it's supposed to be scary in that picture, but the longer I look at it, the more the clown looks like some kind of koala bear.

And I know green eyes get stereotyped as evil, but we're not all bad...

They're coming out green on this laptop. Maybe because of all the blue tones around it...

I tend to enjoy TAA's stuff, for the most part...but yeah, he's got his titties in a twist over this movie.

I've said before that there's a chap on another forum who's been dropping hints for ages that he's seen an early cut of the film. He posted these yesterday:

Quote:
I can say IT is incredibly engaging, has genuine moments of absolute terror, the best thing about it is the kids themselves and their emotional arcs with their home life and with the bonding they share with one another, and Bill's performance as Pennywise is incredible. Crap, I'm getting ahead of myself, I probably can't go any further. The biggest concern i see around the web is that it will rely on jump scares, fear not. No quick cuts or loud jump scares to be found throughout.
Quote:
Now lets be clear, anyone who's seen paranormal activity, some instances from insidious, and most modern horror films, its when a scene gets incredibly quiet and focuses in on a particular image only to boast a loud sound effect with another popping image. There is nothing like that in this film. Most of the scares happen in continuation, something is unfolding on camera and it's terrifying, and there's very subtle things that happen on screen that are incredibly unsettling, the same way the novel has them.

Yeah, this isn't so much a knock on The Stand but praise for IT: As great as The Stand is, it can feel like a chore at times but IT just flies by. I mean, I guess maybe it meanders a little here and there (and I'm still not a huge fan of the way it ends) but it never gets tedious.

Pet Sematary is my favourite King novel of the ones I have read*. It's properly scary, horrifying and emotional all at the same time.

[Show spoiler]I've read Pet Sematary, The Shining, Doctor Sleep, Salem's Lot, Cujo and I've almost finished IT (on the last chapter)

I don't like watching attention ***** videos to begin with but the fact that he calls himself the "Amazing Atheist" kind of stamps douche across his forehead.

As for the jump scare complaint people have. The only thing that could have been considered a jump scare was at the end when Pennywise runs screaming at the kid. Guess what though, you could tell just from the trailer that he's already standing still for a sec before he charges. I'm willing to bet that won't be a jump scare in the actual film, it's edited like that for the trailer. The fact that a lot of fools can't distinguish that is more proof that more and more people should not be watching videos from "experts" or "professional critics" who don't know what the hell they're talking about.

The amount of dumb comments I've seen on Youtube alone from people saying the mini-series is already better.

As usual per the internet I fully take the stance that a large percentage of people complaining never even read King's book. The mini-series was pretty damn bad other than Tim Curry. Even then, he played Pennywise a bit different than the book. People are wearing some heavy rose-colored glasses when thinking back on the TV version.

I have high hopes for this.

Eh TJ is alright, don't always agree with him though. Still an entertaining guy, and that part he mentions laughing out loud a couple times, I kinda agree with. When the kid hits his head and falls down, made me laugh too. I could tell, imo, that TJ really did find that funny but still wanted to ***** about it, because him and Skarsgård had words on twitter. Personally, I didn't see that as a jump scare, more of a MONSTER doing monster stuffs. I'm on board with IT. edit: Disagree about the projector scene, I think that's pretty spooky.

I think fear of jump scares is coming mainly from Fukunaga's abstract comments about why he left the project. People are gleaning from those comments that the studio is going to rely on jump scares. We will see if that is the case. Jump scares are fine if they are not used as a crutch. All the great horror movies seem to have them. Jump scares seem to work best when you have created good atmosphere and suspense.

On the surface the trailer looks great, but for some reason it just came off as stale for me. I really didnt find it scary at all. I dont know why. Its like a part of me thinks I should have, but I just didnt find it scary.

Im not sure "monotone acting" is necessarily the problem. You can project emotion with monotone acting. It just sounds as if these kids are hitting the beats. But Ill wait until I see the movie before I make a final judgement about that.

Too bad when this hits blu-ray, it will be a cheap, non-combo pack with hideous coverart like Conjuring 2 since its New Line.

Thats what I'm hoping for. The Conjuring 2 steel is scary as hell, can't imagine what this will look like if Zavi does one.

I've now seen it all on these forums.

I never thought I would see someone complain about the cover/extras for a movie that hasn't even hit theaters yet. I'm almost speechless.
