You need to see the Analgraph 3-D A New Hope. At least I think it is Analgraph...

I have to say I believe the Star Wars series is a must in color...especially Empire.

Raiders of The Lost Ark in B&W...now that's a different story!

You are right about the 2011 Mixes lacking the nice bass that the 1993 Mixes feature. Once thing I don't like about the 2011 Mixes of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi is the noticeable clipping.

I wouldn't mind tracking down the Definitive Collection or the THX (Faces) LaserDisc Editions for the PCM Audio. I have the LaserDiscs of the 1997 Special Editions and I want to check out the 5.1 Dolby Digital Mixes on them but I still don't own an AC-3 Demodulator. However I'm trying to acquire one.
The work that hairy_hen has done in recreating the 70mm 6 channel is astounding. What I have been preaching for months.

The LD's were the source in part.

Analgraph sounds like a weird form of plastic surgery.

I have heard those 5.1 Mixes that hairy_hen recreated of the 70MM 6-Track Stereo Mixes and they are pretty damn amazing!

If the Original Theatrical Unaltered Versions of The Star Wars Trilogy are ever restored and released onto Blu-Ray officially it would be nice if the original 6-Track Stereo Mixes are recreated in 5.1. Lucasfilm must still have all of the original audio elements.

They'd be 4.2 not 5.1 - mono surrounds and baby boom channels.

And Mark Hamill has also recently been quoted as having a similar attitude.

There are many things that are worth getting worked up about. This just isn't one of them.

I can't imagine why someone would be upset with that answer. They asked him a question and he answered honestly. You have a link that shows that the person was upset?

I got that beat...

I got that beat.

Laserdisc of Snow White, with music and f/x only track, turning it into a scored silent movie.

Oh, and Mary Ellen Moffat. She broke my heart.

Nah, you need to see a doctor and have your ears checked if you can't hear the clipping. When the death star explodes in Jedi the rears crackle so much it sounds like bacon is being fried in the room with you.

I always enjoy reading posts from Lucas apologists who have to defend the changes made to the shitty Special Editions. They get all argumentative when some of us don't like blinking Ewoks, magic rocks and terrible CGI added to classic films.
