They hate it cause they feel its boring and doesn't have enough jump scares likely.
Well, shit, shouldn't have read THAT spoiler..

Sorry. I should have made a spoiler saying that was for that and not IT.

Eh, it's fine. In all honesty, despite all of the buzz for "mother!," I didn't see myself going to see it in theaters anyway. When it comes to Aronofsky's films, they're all usually so much that seeing it on a big screen would just be overwhelming. I feel like his films are better left to a smaller, more intimate screening-- at home, with a bottle of wine. Or four.

(Except when it comes to "Black Swan." That movie was a bit tame for Aronofsky, I felt. It was like Aronofsky-lite.)

I'm a film buff, but having to watch that artsy fartsy crap is not high on my list.

3 years ago I said I would never pay to see another Lawrence film, so why start up again now? Joy and Passengers were just awful, but a free library rental doesn't make the pain hurt too much.

Went and saw this a second time in a double feature with the new Annabelle at my local drive in. My friend didn't care for it and she said it wasn't scary although I didn't think it was scary either time either. Still an amazing movie.

Few scenes were hard to make out at my drive-in last night, how about yours?

Got out of my second viewing, this time in IMAX. Damn was the sound killer there! Even better the second time personally. Just so good. A really stellar movie.

I'd see it a third time over watching Mother! Once. No doubts.

3.5/5 stars for me. Not really scary, more creepy than anything. I thought the character's stories and bonding was good, and Skarsgard was fine. Good movie, though only my tenth favorite of the year so far(there's been a lot of good movies this year).

I'd like funko's of all the losers. Seems strange they didn't. They're all unique enough visually that I think it'd be easy for them to make good Funkos.

It wasn't too bad but some shots were difficult to make out but it got better as it got darker.

Wasn't as scary or creepy as I was expecting, but I still had fun.

This is still the king of It scenes:

With a HUGE box office return, I really hope the sequel get a boost in its budget. As much as I enjoyed the first one, I felt that some of the CGI was rather off and it just took me out of the movie.

I've not seen it, but I'm wondering how fans of the book and movie find it in terms of the structure of the original being linearized?

I also wonder if they might eventually do a book cut of it if the second film is made, intercutting past and current.

I've only seen the movie once so far (I know, I know.. I feel physical pain over this), and the only time I was "scared" when watching it was during the opening scene with Georgie's death, and that's because I was a little nervous as to how far and how graphic they were going to go. But either way, I still knew what was about to happen.

That's the thing about this movie: I've read the novel several times. I know the miniseries verbatim. I KNOW how this movie will play out and that none of the Losers' Club is truly at risk here. So while I jumped a few times and felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up a couple of times at the creepy atmosphere and images I was seeing before me, I was never truly scared, I suppose.. but not because it wasn't scary, but because I knew what was going to happen.

So for all those people in the same paperboat as me (with knowing the story too well beforehand), whether you liked it or didn't like it, know that it probably was scarier than you think, you just didn't feel that the stakes were as high as they are in other horror films/remakes/whatever you want to call this.
The stakes not being high enough is a good way to put it. I also found that this actual threat level from IT was pretty trivial most of the time. It's like "Boo, I'm here to scare you.....and now I have to be going on my way. Have a nice day." It was obvious due to scenes early and later in the film that IT had the capability to capture and or kill kids seemingly at will. Why did this group get a free pass? Made no sense. And no it was NOT because they banded together since the early confrontations happened when they were clearly alone and not using the strength of each other so to speak. Total writing fail. Of course, one of the unlikeable "bad" kids "gets it" first encounter. Almost like an audience pleasing moment. Meh.

As for being scary? The opening scene was great but after that it went with the very standard and overdone jump scares, behind doors, mirrors, etc, etc tactics that we've all seen 75 million times.

I dunno. I'm not the only one that had a problem with the rules of this universe per se and what IT could do or couldn't do. Seemed random, arbitrary and very much "convenient" for whatever situation occurred at that time to further the plot. Lame. For example:
[Show spoiler]why is it when the fat kid kissed Bev when she was in a trance that she magically wakes up and is fine? What the...? True loves kiss? Nope, Bev liked Georgie's brother as we clearly saw. And, why not start kissing every comatose kid in that room that was floating? Save them too....right? Meh. Guess not. Sorry but that's just weak and poor writing.
