I store mine in an abandoned barn about an hour from my apartment as any sensible collector should.

Funny post. :-) And here's a nice segue. One of my friends actually stores his retail packaging in a barn. No joke. He keeps all the discs in the house though. Would be pretty inconvenient to have to go out to the barn every time him and his wife wanted to watch a Blu-ray. :-P They're indexing their discs in DVD Profiler as I am, but using numbered sleeves. Helped them learn the ins and outs of the software. They went from having DVD's and Blu-ray's lining several walls from floor to ceiling to a single cabinet with enough room left over to last several years based on their current buying habits. Made the wife especially happy. It's a great alternative if the retail packaging is starting to take over one's home. They still have a small area with some of their custom packaging on display though.

Discgear Selector:
![]() ![]() Each one stores 100 (or 80 or 120 depending on the capacity) discs, and is about 16" long. I have two of these that I used to store back-up CD-Rs on. When I upgraded to hard drives for back-up, I now keep my recorded DVDs in them. Not sure if they still make them, or what models are still available. |

Such an interesting thread....there's no right or wrong answer to it. It's all preference based. The solution changes as the collection grows. I'm glad my collection isn't as big as some of yours just for the fact that I wouldn't have the space for it....give it time I guess.
I currently use these Snap-n-store boxes: https://www.amazon.ca/Snap-N-Store-S...s=snap-n-store They aren't perfect, but they work for now. Wish they held 25 each (not 26) cuz the bookshelf that they sit on isn't the same depth and it hangs over. Also wish they were sized only for blu-rays, not DVD's. |

The recommendation was something called discsox pro sleeves, though I don't know if they store art. There is also a recommendation for a barrel grabber but I'm not into that. |

I have one 3-tiered metal display shelf (from a store I used to manage) for my blu-rays and HD-DVDs. When I run out of space then I make myself sell some before I can buy more. Helps me keep from getting too many titles, which I did with DVDs.
It's kind of a cheat because I keep my small DVD collection, mostly TV sets, in another room...or I rip them to my computer. But I want to keep my HD media under the 400 mark. Probably doesn't help the OP, just thought I'd add. |

Is anyone familiar with this brand of slim cases?
https://www.slim-disc.com/BLURAY-sleeve You can get 200 for £60. Holds (most) artwork and 2 disc's each. There's also these https://mmdesign.com/Movies/Sleeves/...oly-sleeve.php They look to do the same job, 2 discs and most artwork. But good lord, $20 for 25 of them? These thin sleeves are what I'm most interested in for organizing but don't want to just throw money away. |

My solution was to switch from bookshelves to dressers. The Malm from Ikea has drawers deep enough to put DVDs and blu-rays in spine-up, like a filing cabinet. Each drawer holds four columns of movies with space on the side for more movies, remotes, cables or junk.

I've been buying ten disc cases and consolidating lately. I create box sets of a director or type of film... godzilla, laurel & hardy, bogart, etc... I can fit ten discs in the space of two that way and the covers fit inside the front of the case. If it gets any worse, I'll do what I did with my DVDs... mono price sleeves and aluminum cases.
