If the price of the DVD-2500BTCI were.........mmmmm........about $1000 or a little less, I will take a SERIOUS look at it!!!!!!
If this Denon is good, me thinks............

Denon DVD-2500BTCI + Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH =

It will be interesting how the new Denon suddenly magnifies the value of other Blu-ray offerings.

If you put the Panasonic, Pioneer Elite, or the upcoming Sony and Samsungs against this, how do they look from a price/performance standpoint?

I am waiting on the next gen Pioneer Elite blu-ray player and then I would really like to see how this unit compares to it, to see if it is worth the extra money.

well for the UK boys its better that you cant update via online.

Simple reason is Denon has always passed out Muti region Discs out the back door for people to hack there players. Now i doubt we will be able to hack BD but for SD-DVD i bet Denon will still let the players be hacked for Multi region use, and with realta onboard thats a must for euro peeps.

Yes, its gone a bit quiet from a few HD-DVD supporters. probaly MS havent updated the retort sheet. expect very soon, "it dosent count", "no one gonna buy it", etc etc.

I see one has already claimed that he feels the price is insulting, post history shows a definate HD-DVD bias, which comes as little surprise when your cheap..

If you have a look at the thread on AVS, you see quite a few of the HD DVD biased people saying how unimportant this is. Most of those same people would be crowing if Denon had put out a HD DVD only player.

To be fair, some of the people over there who are crowing now would probably downplay it if it were HD DVD only.

I think the importance is not so much how many units Denon will sell, but the consumer confidence of having another manufacturers product to choose from. Not a killer blow by any means, but another nice little bit of news.

The hypocrisy is laughable.

If Denon had come out with this same kind of equipment for HD-DVD the format war would be completely and utterly done with right now as far as any of those people would be concerned.

Yea, my response to an HD-DVD fan expressing shock at the Denon price was basically to say ""what did you expect? It's a Denon. Not a low end Toshiba."

This is GREAT news. Those ostriches over on AVS can continue to stick their heads in the sand all they want, but for high end aficionados Denon is one of the best. For many, $2000 may seem steep but it’s not that shocking when you consider the pricing of Denon’s other DVD offerings. I love Denon equipment, so I will probably get one eventually (not Gen 1 though). Back in the states in storage, all my AV gear (receiver and DVD player) are Denon.

Another nail in the coffin for HDDVD.

Happy Happy Day for Blu-ray!

I would think so...since D&M Holdings, the parent company of Marantz and Denon, is the acutal BDA licensee.

After years of lambasting the technology, Denon has announced it is to make a major U-turn and release a Blu-ray player later this year.......
Love those U-turns!

Default Denon and PS3

Denon and PS3, still the only way to go. This is a great article referencing both, I'm sure you will all enjoy (particularly those who own PS3s...)
