That film and Gilda will make you fall in love with Rita Hayworth.

And if you already have Sweet smell of success in there you might as well watch Whatever happened to Baby Jane?
You might also watch M and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse since they are pretty much Proto-Noir masterpieces by the Godfather of Noir himself (Fritz Lang)

Wow! Thanks a ton for taking the time to provide some feedback JoeBuck, chidecki, Jexes23, and KOQ24. I really do appreciate it! I’ve added all of your recommended films to my list to watch and will make some of these priorities to view as soon as possible. I’ll be sure to check out The Narrow Margin, Out of the Past, The Lady from Shanghai, Gilda, and Detour before a lot of the others. While I’m definitely familiar with the names of most of these titles, it certainly helps build momentum to watch them based on your recommendations. I’m certainly looking forward to Out of the Past because of Robert Mitchum and it doesn’t look like it will be too difficult getting through two films featuring Rita Hayworth. Although it will be tough to beat the combination of Lauren Bacall and Martha Vickers in The Big Sleep.

Anyone else import the Arrow UK Four Film Noir Classics BLU Box and compare the transfers to the Olive BLUs? Are they the same exact transfers or are they new or better.

They've all been reviewed, and compared by DVDBeaver. Some may come from the same masters used by Olive, but they're better encoded. They're all noticeably improved in any event, and have a nice array of extras, and subtitles too.

It appears ClassicFlix, through Amazon are having a 50% off sale for several of their titles. Some truly great prices here considering their stuff tends to stay relatively high.

Here's the list of all ClassicFlix titles: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?studioid=2070

And here's the list of Noir (or Noir-stained) ones on sale:

Another Man's Poison - $14.98
Crime of Passion - $14.98
He Walked By Night - $19.98
The Killer is Loose - $14.98
T-Men - $19.98
You Only Live Once - $15.98

Thanks! I picked up T-Men. Looks like Raw Deal is on sale too for $25, not bad for a pre-order.

Really want to pick up T-Men and He Walked by Night but I wonder if there's a good chance they'll both dip into that $15 price range in the next couple months.

i doubt it. The ones that are $15 had a lower MSRP to start ($29.99 vs $39.99).

I'll wait to grab the titles with the higher MSRP during the BN 40% off sale. I did pick up Crime of Passion, though, which is an underrated noir.

I got the UK Arrow Four Film Noir Classics Box Set

I'm sure it has been discussed before but...

It seems to be sold out on the Arrow UK Site but Amazon UK still has copies.

The discs are all Region Free

A lot of us here in the Film Noir thread are big fans of the late actress, Gloria Grahame (In a Lonely Place, The Big Heat, Crossfire, Sudden Fear, Human Desire, It's a Wonderful Life, Blonde Fever, etc.).

A new movie, Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool, is based on a memoir by Peter Turner, a young actor who was in a relationship with Grahame during the final years of her life. Annette Bening plays Grahame, while Jamie Bell plays Turner.

I saw the trailer last night while I was at the theater. Here it is...

Thanks, I'll definitely be catching that one when it comes out. Digging that new Elvis Costello song in the trailer too.

I'd thought about mentioning this film in this thread, so I'm glad someone else actually got around to it. It looks good, and the reviews have been positive, so I'm looking forward to checking it out.

It's Temporarily Out of Stock on Amazon UK. Not sure if that means there is a chance they actually won't be getting anymore either or not.

Do they all have subtitles? I know the reason I never got the Olive release of The Big Combo was because it didn't have them.

I’m showing English subtitles on all of the titles in Four Fiilm Noir Classics I’m the back covers.

Shocked it is all the sudden out of stock on Amazon, usually I see it saying less than 10 copies etc... but yeah I just ordered my set last Monday and paid for the fast shipping. I know Arrow has been sold out for a while... but I’d check around to see if you can maybe order it from another UK retailer that might have stock.

Default Four Film Noir Classics UK Arrow

I’d guess Arrow UK will maybe release them as individual titles soon though.

Arrow only pressed 2000, so I'm guessing it's sold out. It's already been out of stock on Arrow's site for quite some time.

Great heads up. This one is playing at one of the few theaters here in the Denver area that still put real butter on their popcorn, so I am guessing a limited release? Not a big Bening fan, but at least I know she probably did her homework for this role and she respects the movies of the past. I will try to catch it.
