I think the remake of The Old Dark House is overlooked in the Hammer Film cannon because its so unlike the type of films that Hammer did previously, and later became known for. I've always felt that Tom Poston was miscast as the lead because he doesn't quite have the gravitas or the knack to pull off the kind of cheeky humor that was required for the role. Granted, the humor and the tone of the original novel is challenging to bring to the silver screen, and I don't think the original 1930s film was any more successful in doing that, but nevertheless it would still be good to have the Castle/Hammer version of the film as part of a subsequent Indicator/Powerhouse collection of William Castle films.
