make sure you're switching your tv setting to hdmi mode. my samsung has, about 6 different modes, one for each input. so, i have 2 hdmi inputs into my tv, one fore digital cable and the other for my ps3.

connect the ps3 with just the hdmi cable and make sure the tv is on the correct setting and you should be good to go.
