Well the show has the same ending as the books, the writers have confirmed that. They've just taken a different route to get there. So the ending is the one that was planned since the beginning. It just depends on if the masses will find that ending satisfying, especially since George RR Martin has described it as a very bittersweet ending.

Only way I could see the ending annoying me is if Cersei wins. I get that the show likes to be a realistic bummer and all that, but that would be a step too far for me.

I don't think Cersei is going to win at all. Bittersweet means that the Lannisters will fall, but Jaime, Cersei and Tyrion will all die. The final season will make us feel very sorry for Jaime and Tyrion. I can see Jon Snow dying too in order to save his family and avenge Ned's death (thus the bittersweet comments that all of the cast and crew keep mentioning). Jon already died once, the audience will be fine with him sacrificing his life for the Stark children who have grown into great leaders. As for the throne, there won't be a throne in the end. With all of the death and destruction, nobody would respect the throne after Cersei is done with it.

It really echoes our current society right? Feminism loves this show as it empowers the women and will leave the power with Sansa, Arya and possibly Daenerys to give the power to the people. Our country is divided and people want to overturn the government (Trump) even if it means disrespecting the throne. Sorry to get political, but art often times reflects our very society.

I actually think the show will end with some sort of council. One for each major family, or something. Also, I doubt Dany will live untill the end. I can see her dying alongside her remaining dragons as some sort of sacrifice. Not sure about Tyrion and Jaime, but I'm sure Cersei will die.

In the books, Jamie gives up on Cersei and turns away from her. I could see that happening in the show too, Jamie was pretty disgusted with her in the war room scene.

I think Jon Snow will ultimately end up on top

The Sopranos ending was perfect. I know people love to have things spelled out for them but the answers people want are all there. Game of Thrones will be lucky to pull off somthing half as good.

Had a chance to take a closer look at ep 7 in particular for scaling/aliasing issues. Right at the start of the ep with the tents and troops, could tell there was something quite amiss with edges looking a bit jagged. I can list around a couple dozen problematic scenes throughout the ep but to keep it short will limit it to a couple that bugged me the most. At the start of ch.6, the edge of Drogo's arm on the left side is severely aliased and it shimmers to make matters worse as the camera pans forward slowly. In ch.7 at around 35:14, the aliased edges of characters and objects overlapping the snow, particularly at the top center of the screen, looks very fugly as the shimmering jaggedness is accompanied by some pinking/greenish color. Some scenes look fine but majority of others do not throughout the ep's runtime.

As for nerdy tech details, I checked out the ep in both HDR10 and DV using an OPPO 203 connected to a Sony 930E and LG C6 (I forced hdr10 but haven't tried forcing sdr yet). Also had an Xbox One X and Sony X800 on hand to test HDR10 on the same TV's in which the ep. 7 aliaisng problem was quite noticeable in every instance. The SDR BD by comparison looks a lot better in terms of ep7 upscaling, there are no major issues that I can see worth complaining about there.

In conclusion, the ep 7 anomaly is very disappointing and I think a possible dealbreaker for me I may sell the UHD the more I think about it in spite of the previous 6 eps looking fine to me. Haven't checked out ep 8, 9 and 10 yet.

It the UHD really even worth it for this title? Looking at caps-aholic the UHD looks filtered and waxy compared to the blu-ray (to be fair sometimes a poor SDR translation can lose things though, but just going by what I see, it seems maybe tied for worst UHD along with Serenity).

I've seen other caps that show that compression on the Blu-ray is pretty atrocious, obsuring detail.

Tried taking camera screenshots, suffice it to say that the quality of my images were terrible and not worth posting, it's one of those times I wish I had UHD screencap capability to share how badly aliased ep7 appears. Another good place to see the wonkiness is towards the end of ch.6 at 32:52 where the edges of characters and objects are noticeably jagged with the only upside being there little to no shimmering during motion. I can provide at least a couple dozen other timestamps for anyone who wants to try taking UHD screencaps of the episode. I can provide the BD screencaps for comparison if necessary.

Season 8 is slated to air in April, so maybe around then? That's if they don't go the whole shebang and wait to do a Season 1-8 UHD set next Christmas.
