Default Deacon: Let's have an intelligent conversation here: I'll talk, and you listen.

I just finished cataloging this release in My Movies and DVD Profiler. When going to scan the cover art I decided just for kicks to scan both sides. Thought I'd post what the reserve side looks like for anyone interested. Below are images of this release as seen from My Movies for WMC7 and DVD Profiler.

(Click preview image above to view my online profile for the box set as a whole.)

(Click preview image above for full size image.)

Note below how I created a profile for the box set as a whole in addition to profiles for each disc. I do this for a number of reasons. One of the reasons most could probably relate to is with respects to "Watched" status. Having separate profiles for each disc provides for keeping track of the "Watched" status of each disc rather than just the box set as a whole. I also created "Tags" called "View History\Not Watched" and "View History\Watched" which I mark accordingly. This provides a quick and easy way to determine which profiles I haven't watch yet, i.e. filtering my collection by the tag, "View History\Not Watched".

Also, to differentiate the front cover images for the box set profile and each disc level profile I decided to add text below the title treatment. Turned out pretty well I think. See below.

And here's the set I worked up for Side A in the event I decide to change things up.

To view my online profiles for this release just hit up the link below in my forum signature to my Blu-ray collection. (Best viewed with a conventional browser that supports frames. If viewed from a mobile device I'd suggest performing a Press & Hold of the given profile link in the left frame selecting the option to open the page in a new tab. Works well.)

Heck, why stop there. :-P Might as well post the full cover scans I worked up as well. They didn't turn out too bad considering I'm still using a 12 year old entry level Epson scanner. They're serviceable anyway. Enjoy!

Okay, I'm done now. :-P Just thought I'd share. Looking forward to checking this release out. Having a few people over on Friday night to watch this. Haven't decided which cut we're going to watch yet though. Decisions, decisions.

Got charged for my Amazon order, so I've put a hold on my card and ordered with a different card from DD.

Hopefully it's not too long before B&N fails to charge me and we can all move on, otherwise I'll have to get in touch with the bank.

I switched my cover art to that one as thought it looked interesting and i like having 2 different images. The outer case has the new art and inside the other artwork.

I'm really impressed with the extended cut. Until I saw the TV cut years ago I always thought the movie was a little disjointed, missing out some details we kinda needed to know for what was happening to make sense.

The new cut though, the whole movies flows so much better for me. I had even gotten bored of the theatrical version so hadn't watched the movie in years, but I really enjoyed it this time, it felt like it always should have been like this vs most extended movies where its just extra fluff that doesn't add anything useful to the story. Even the ending (which I always thought was too depressing and kinda stupid) makes more sense.

A little confused why we have SD footage in at least one place where the HD-DVD release did not and a shame we had SD footage at all, its kinda jarring on a good TV, but I'd rather that than us not get this excellent extended edition. That footage may never be found otherwise.

Totally agree. I hadn't seen Waterworld since seeing the TV cut years ago and remembered thinking at the time the film worked better with all the added scenes. Seeing the Ulysses cut now, it seems like the only way to watch the film.

It reminded me in a way of the longer cut of Alien 3, where it helped improve the film quite a bit, fleshing out characters and filling in various plot holes. It's not going to make you like the film if you didn't already, but anyone who thought the film was interesting, but flawed should definitely check it out.

This is one case where a little more teal and less red would've made a huge improvement. Otherwise, top notch.
No this is CORRECT and was approved by the person who SHOT THE MOVIE and it looks a lot like the laserdisc which also had the ORIGINAL colors think you just want to be a contrarian to look edgy. This movie came out before the teal trend started so there should be no teal!

I saw this 3 times theatrically and this new release is how I recall it looking in 1995. It was always supposed to be vivid and saturated.

Was finally able to finish the Ulysses cut yesterday, and it's definitely my preferred version of the movie. Probably won't bother watching the theatrical cut again. The added scenes really help the story (and there's more smeat!). It kinda reminds me of Batman vs Superman. When I saw it at the theater, it felt like a confusing mess. The ultimate cut on blu-ray made much more sense.

Ready my post again. I wrote that Batman vs Superman was a confusing mess. It reminds me of that movie in that there are gaps in the story that don't fully explain things while the extended cut does a better job.

Where is there SD footage on the new Arrow that's HD on the HD-DVD?

I've been reading your ongoing saga and I'm excited to see how it ends.

My saga: I ordered Waterworld through Arrow, then realized it was region B so I cancelled and ordered through Deepdiscount instead to get region A. Then I get an email from Arrow saying they couldn't cancel my order. Then they emailed me again the next day and said they made a mistake, and that the copy I ordered WILL play on a region A player.

So now I have two copies of Waterworld arriving which feels really silly. Not sure what I'll do with one of them...maybe try and sell it later and hope the "Limited Edition" gives it some value.

I could just send it back for a refund, but I don't feel like mailing an item back to the UK.

Either way, I cannot wait to get this beauty in the mail.

My advice is to keep the Arrow UK copy and hold onto the US release to sell later. In my experience, Arrow releases with UK rating logos often end up selling for less on the second hand market than the US equivalent.

Today, of all days, is the day Netflix charges me. But my card is on hold, so now that's screwed up.

So I called the bank. Luckily the pre-auth charge was still visible at their end, so they should be able to block the charge from going through, but my card is stuck on hold until I get confirmation, which I'm guessing won't happen until Tuesday.

If you can catch the delivery as it is being made, just refuse the parcel from the UK. Good ol’ “RETURN TO SENDER!” It gets sent back free of charge and they’ll have to refund you when it gets back to them.

Doubt Arrow could get a high profile Warner release, but the original Mad Max has been remastered for 4k already so I could see Warner doing Road Warrior at some point.
