It was just too big of an army to have behind Winterfell’s walls. Especially the Dothraki “calvary”.

I don’t post much about GoT, but there’s anyone who didn’t like that episode? Smh. Lol. It was amazing IMHO.

so Beric is Azor Ahai?...I still think it's Jon but I can see it being Beric...I've heard people say that Arya killing the Night King makes her Azor

why were they hyping the battle as being the longest sustained action sequence in TV or movie history?...they kept comparing it to Two Towers which had a 40 minute battle...but in GoT it wasn't a continuous 40+ minutes of action...they cut away a few times to show the people in the Crypts

Is the Two Towers battle nonstop, all-battlefield action? I'm sincerely asking, cause I've never seen it (and don't plan to either).

I have to watch it again as I don't remember...but the GoT showrunners kept talking about longest continuous action sequence so I have to believe that they meant a long battle shot without any other cutting away

That might be "longest" for a TV show, as apposed to film and TV.

I do believe that was the scene they said took them 50+ days to shoot.

Now it begs to change the question:

Who is the Night King? for
[Show spoiler]Who was the Night King? meh

I still think Arya is not really Arya anymore but after last night im not sure anymore because if shes not Arya who is she and whats her goal?

Remember there were many faces on that cript. She can pretty much be anyone by now since some memories are kept from the host face...

Some scenes were bad to visualize but I found it better to have the whole room to be dark during dark scenes. Otherwise u have glare from your lights reflecting off the HDTV. And i’m Pretty sure if u had anything below 1080p u probably would of seen very little.

The NK’s origins and intentions have already been established. He was never anything more than that. Some people just got carried away. Same here...

I look forward to your inevitable “so Ayra was just Ayra, meh” post in a few weeks time.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the end, but excited throughout. It was a bit annoying to see Jaime, Brienne and Sam getting inundated with undead over and over, not that I wanted anything to happen to them, but at the end when Jon left Sam it looked like he was leaving him to die.

Yeah, John was definitely On A Mission and not allowing himself to be distracted from it, but I wasn't sure what his goal was? Trying to make it to the Godswood was my guess.

Agreed. I think the problem is these are shot with blu-ray/4k quality in mind, but the streaming and cable broadcast just murder most of the detail. I'm almost positive that when the home release comes out that there will be much more clarity during this battle.

allow me to paraphrase the episode:

"The Night is dark and we can't see ****!"

At the least, Jamie and Brienne should have died in the Battle. Jamie to earn his redemption arc. Brienne as the defender of Sansa and to her sworn vow. For Brienne to die at any point in the remainder of the series, will just be less. Cersei and her army of bought men? Brienne deserves a better death than at the hands of some human sellswords. So, we're left with Jamie and Brienne surviving the show or any of their deaths until the end of the show will now be less than they deserved. Sam probably should have died too.

That's what I was thinking. Just shows how horrible streaming still is for some things. It looked poor even on cable. An action heavy episode set in dark and snow looked horrible with pixelation and compression.

They should have done a switch. Dealt with Cersei first and then the entire threat of westeros.

Yup. The NK should have rode his dragon south, taken Kings Landing. Leaving Jon & Dany chasing him the whole way south.

I enjoyed the battle. Sam should have and needs to die.

When the NK first appeared to Jon and Jon chased him, that is where I thought they might have been headed.

On a different note while I am fine with the way Arya killed the NK, I honestly thought that during her time off screen she had realized in a moment of clarity/desperation that the only way to get close enough to the NK, was to sacrifice Bran, take his face, and then kill the NK.

If they did that, the show wouldn’t be about the Iron Throne in the end.
