I posted this in the 4K thread, but I'm really curious to see how this episode looks on UHD. I feel like it looked about as good as it could have looked for a regular HD/SDR stream on my E8, but I still had a hard time tracking what was happening. But a lot of that was inherent in the photography and editing, which I thought were just poor in general. So I'm not sure that the UHD can really do much to help this episode.

I completely disagree with this. The dead and the Night King are essentially a natural disaster that was walking towards the South, they're not actual characters. I'm way more satisfied with the fact that the remaining three episodes will be dealing completely with actual fleshed-out characters.

In Season 6 when she took it off in the bath we saw her as the old woman. This time she discarded it to live out her remaining moments and die.

Dunno. She probably knew that she only had a few seconds of life left. I liked Melisandre's death and the moment she lit the trench was incredibly shot.

I was thinking that too and show that he was The Dragon. Then my wife pointed out that he was burned in Season Two(?) when he destroyed the first wight.

Episode was intense throughout and I have been saying for weeks that this would be the end of the Night King and it would be Arya. I cheered so loud when that happened. I did expect more people to die but we still have three episodes to give them good deaths. Beginning was a bit dark but improved as the episode went on. Overall it was an amazing episode. Crazy how people are writing it off or are disappointed. You be crazy.

I must say that after 8 years of "Winter is Coming", last night's episode was underwhelming to say the least.

And, while Arya is a cool character in general, her abilities just seem so out of place relative to everyone else. At this point, Dany and Jon might as well just let Arya go down to King's Landing by herself and kill Cersei alone. Based on what she is apparently capable of, who could possibly stop her?

Keep in mind this may have been by design in order to have us (the viewers) in a state of "confusion" much like I imagine anyone in an actual battle of that magnitude would feel. Just my .02 cents

Really? SMH...underwheling? How so? What were you all expecting anyway? All I hear is crying going on, it was a let down, underwhelming....blah blah blah. How could they have made it better? And your point on Ayra is so wrong! She is a total bad ass and can take anyone one on one in the show....The Mountinan, The Hound, any one of them!

Oh, no doubt about it that they were going for that effect. Still, it didn't explain a lot of the sloppy editing and poor management of events. And I felt like the whole "fog of war" thing was really undermined by the number of main characters who survived. I felt like the showrunners tried to have their cake and eat it too and it just didn't work for me at all.

I'm guilty of wanting a conclusion to Bran's arc. Key side characters died so that he could help defeat the true antagonist of the series because we were meant to believe his role was an important one.

I did feel we would see a lot more deaths, most notably Brienne and Jamie. Theon I think we all saw coming, as it was the only way for him to have truly redeemed himself.

You mean you didn't think that Bran staring at the NK was important? Not many can just sit there and stare at the NK like that. It takes a special kind of talent.

I have enjoyed the seasons based on GRRM's books, more than the ones based on whatever outline he gave the producers. The earlier seasons had more depth.

Episode 3 was a mixed bag.

Last night's episode had scenes which seemed over-long and rushed at the same time. There was a long battle which seemed to have no strategy by either side. Jaime Lannister, an accomplished commander was just a foot soldier trying to kill as many of the dead as possible. Tyrion, also an accomplished tactician, spent the episode flirting with Sansa. Ser Brienne was seen killing the dead and not dying but was also out of the loop. The battle seemed to be going so poorly, that I was wondering if Aslan was going to have to make an appearance

There were some great moments and a few heroic deaths. Mellisandre's return was welcome, and her death IMHO was appropriate - she had fulfilled her destiny and it was time to move on. Lady Lyanna, as usual, had the biggest balls on the show. Jorah gave his life for his one true love. Theon earned his redemption. Arya seemed in perpetual peril.

Hopefully, next week things can slow down a little and get back to the scheming, plotting and backstabbing that makes the show so great. So far this year, it was almost the halfway point in the season before Arya got to kill anybody and Dany has yet to get undressed.

I don't get Bran's part in last nights wrap of the night king, I thought he would of been a big part of taking the night king down but he basically did nothing but sit around as bait the entire episode it seemed. His powers seemed pretty useless overall last night, maybe I missed something though.

Overall a good episode but could of been a bit better imo, the night king though was a big disappointment to me, I expected better with the years of buildup for him to only cower from fighting Jon and then getting punked and stuck by Arya.

People complaining that Arya got the kill don't seem to realize just how important she truly is to the story considering she is in the title of the book series A Song of Ice and Fire. One of the meanings of the name Arya or Aria is Music, Song, or Melody. She is the song. Jon is the Ice and Dany is Fire.
