You must be such a hero to all those people you know in your "real life".

I call it a A New Hope. Its bore that title longer than it ever bore the title Star Wars. I'm sanguine about the change in the title.

Man, I had not seen the original ROTJ since the theater in the summer of 83, and I played the 4K83 blu for my kids and I for our Friday night movie night, it was an emotional experience for me anyway, almost like watching for the first time. The clarity, and detail on this is downright staggering, almost as good as 4K77.(which looks insane on a uhd) When Empire is finally done, I will be complete.

I remember growing up when being a Star Wars fan meant a shared thing that you could trust another fan because they 'got it.' You could assume they had a sense of humor, a sense of something spiritual or mystic, a sense of life as an adventure and you could automatically connect.

Now, I generally keep my fandom to myself for fear that another fan might stab me in a rage.

It's a sad state of affairs when Trekkers are better behaved than SW "fans"....

Yep I grew up in the 70s and 80s knowing it as just Star Wars. Wasn't until the 90s and Star Wars Insider referred to it as such, it started to stick. I always assumed A New Hope was just describing the situation and the subsequent scroll, even though ESB and ROTJ had their titles in the same place.

The Last Jedi is a great movie intercut with a terrible one.

That's what's so frustrating about it.

It's sort of a yin and yang situation. You might even say it has a light side and a dark side...

In my prior life I died from overdosing on Star Wars crap. I have been reincarnated into a Star Wars free life.

I dunno. Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm not a Jaws fan. Maybe I'm just a Jaws fan.

It's certainly something to think ab...okay, done.

That would be me. I’m a fan of STAR WARS and THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. I tolerate RETURN OF THE JEDI because (unfortunately) it is the last chapter in the classic trilogy, and for sentimental reasons, the only one I saw on the big screen, when it originally premiered in 1983.

The other films are (barely) watchable and hold no real feeling for me - unlike the 1977 & 1980 classics.

I think that I am a big enough fan of the theatrical cuts of the the Original Trilogy to be able to call myself a huge Star Wars fan. I have loved them since before I was in school and they and the toys dominated my childhood. I still collect plenty of merchandise from the films. The Prequels, Special Edtions and The Last Jedi being garbage isn't my fault.

Nothing's worse than Attack of the Clowns. What an inept, incompetent, cheap-looking excuse for a movie.

This 100%. Also, that's how producer Gary Kurtz felt, too:

"I could see where things were headed," Kurtz said. "The toy business began to drive the [Lucasfilm] empire. It's a shame. They make three times as much on toys as they do on films. It's natural to make decisions that protect the toy business but that's not the best thing for making quality films. The first film and 'Empire' were about story and character but I could see that George's priorities were changing. The emphasis on the toys, it's like the cart driving the horse. If it wasn't for that the films would be done for their own merits. The creative team wouldn't be looking over their shoulder all the time."

Nothing wrong with that! I wasn't taken to see any of the OT in theaters, I was a vhs baby. Ive seen all the others and rereleases in theaters, tho after Ep1 I had to be dragged. But after Force Awakens I vowed to never pay to see another on the big screen, and after Last Jedi on Netflix I am out completely. Sad state of affairs for someone who grew up with Star Wars sheets in second grade.

That's why Lucas chose a controllable hack like Richard Marquand to direct Jedi. He only cares about money.
