Probably the same as usual; they consider the 2011 cuts to be the “final” versions of the films.

Now, if you had just said "I'm not excited, the people I know are off the Star Wars train, but good for those of you who are excited," that would've been different. Instead, you pretended it is fact that nobody likes Star Wars anymore because your feelings on it have soured.
Nope, I simply pointed out that my friends and I were no longer interested in Disney Star Wars. Why would I claim otherwise, especially as this very thread proves otherwise?

Few hundred nerds? I'd say tens of thousands. I've always said no phyisical release of the original edits = no HD upgrade ever, simple as that. Not as if I don't already own the 1997 editions on DVD and the original versions on laserdisc and fan edits.

There are enough folk who want them for it to be worth Disney's while but for various reasons I still believe they won't ever happen.

Well the last day of D23 Expo is today. If nothing is announced today, then it's safe to say that the releases next month are just new covers with no added features or content.

The Avengers Endgame Blu-ray sounded really excellent, without the obvious compressed sound from more recent Disney releases, so I'm hopeful any future releases of the Star Wars films will be properly mixed. I hope. The current BD's are out of this world. The podrace is still my favorite demo.

Amazon always does this with Disney releases. They'll be back afternoon of the release day, or maybe the day after.

Unless they release steelbook versions of these without the black borders this will be an easy pass for me. The only thing SW related I am looking forward to is the 4k release of the OT and PT next year.

I agree about Endgame but it is a new film and there was no previous audio mixes for it unlike Star Wars.

Almost ALL UHD re-releases of Blu-rays got a lower quality Atmos mixes compared to the previous DTS-HD MA ones.

I wrote that comment because I was checking the SW Complete Saga for the first time on my new sound system and was blown away.

The podrace in TPM and the Seismic charges in AOTC were epic sound wise.

This. If the originals ever get put out, they'll be a bestseller. We older Star Wars fans would buy them (some of whom never bought the newer editions), as would the SW fanatics, as would some casual fans of the films that want to see the hoopla over the originals. They would be bestsellers. But I also don't expect to see them from Disney.

if they're not gonna re-assemble the original cuts of the films and setup a 'seamless branching' option for purists, the sequences that got redone or replaced should be 'deleted scenes', remastered in 4k, on a bonus disc to accompany each the films.

I don’t think DISNEY would accommodate fan editors.

of course not. i'm not much concerned with what they'll accommodate since a few decent prints of the original trilogy have been scanned and preserved.

if the original trilogy and prequel trilogy are not just upscaled 2K DIs with HDR, i will be genuinely surprised.

i bet the films themselves will probably look exactly the same as the initial blu-ray release. the discs coming in september may simply be the 2011 discs repackaged with digital codes, or re-authored discs with new label art (ditching 20th century fox branding, like the 2015 'digital collection').

if there's a UHD release of the skywalker saga next year, i bet only the sequel trilogy, solo and rogue one will actually be sourced from 4K masters.

I would like to see a 4K release of Rogue One with the deleted footage.

The OUT would be safer with the fans.

Mr. Lucas trashed his own STAR WARS legacy and DISNEY will prostitute the STAR WARS brand until it is well and truly spent.

Sounds like you won’t be getting hired in their marketing department anytime soon.

They should be okay if they have a decent selection of action-figures to use in Lucasfilm's posters.

Considering this weeks terrible trailer and embarrassing poster reveal Lucasfilm sure need some new blood re marketing Star Wars. My suspicion is that they know they've got an under-performing mess of a film that isn't going to bring back anyone alienated by The Last Jedi and more so the PR shitstorm that followed so they're not even trying.

The sequel trilogy is a failure and Disney would be wise to leave off cinematic Star Wars for at least three or four years and come back with a reimagined from the ground up new universe which incorporates SW lore in interesting and memorable ways rather than the fan service nonsense that's soiled their films so far.

In what way? Surely not box office gross, nor merch sales, nor critical reception, nor fan reception. Each film was a mini phenomenon when it came out, or as close as one could get in today's pop culture.
