One of the things that actually shocked me was: How irrational the head of the human genome project was. First he states that the bible was "written by people who personally eye witnessed Christ", then when that was shot down he changes up to "practically eye witnessed via interviewing eyewitnesses", then to "would you really expect anyone that eye witnessed him to make a written account of him?" and "wouldn't you expect there to be all kinds of contradictions in a true story of this magnitude?" I wonder if this guy would maybe intentionally hinder the project he leads for fear that it would contradict his irrational belief system. His behavior in the film would suggest that this is possible of him.

omg, they need to replace the head of the human gnome project with a more rational person.

Eating fat does not make you fat. Eating more calories than you use makes you fat because humans evolved to store fat when they migrated northward.

Again it is simple science... Balance of energy. Energy in less than engergy out and you lose weight. Same in as out and you stay the same. Burn more than you consume then you lose weight. Sit around on your arse playing video games, eating burritos and pounding 44oz cokes and you gain weight. Eat enough salad and don't execise and you will gain weight, even. Thermodynamics at work here, nothing else.

Proves nothing about what?

Some actually see the grandeur in elevating Him from a tyrannical cosmological and biological engineer to the unfathomable genius that could cause a Big Bang of such subtle design and execution that it would lead inevitably to stars, Sun, Earth, life and humans 14 billion years later.

I've never understood why the devout seem to want to minimize Him.

thats what i meant. evolution can be real and still have religion. the presence or lack of evolution changes nothing imo

Bingo, we have a winner.

If God is all powerful and all seeing and all knowing, why would he just slap some mud together and say "Hey! it's a HUMAN taDA!" He'd probably work a little more subtle than being the Criss Angel of the Universe.

So, a god would scrub the universe of all scientific evidence of his existence ...? The more powerful a force is the more clear the evidence should be of its existence. If a god is a force that is at work everywhere and at all times, the evidence for the god should be staring in every scientists' face ... but the scientific models work just as well without a god, or better, than with a god.

God possibly put all those things in motion. Gravity, physics, etc.

Why would it have to slap you in the face like a c**k in order for you to admit that it's there?

You can't see, taste, or touch gravity, but you know it's there.

And this is coming from the guy that's not religious.

Well, it means that religion has nothing to fear from evolution. Just as it had nothing to fear from an Earth traveling around the Sun. History is full of science presenting a new way of looking at things, and small minds attacking it because they perceive it to be threatening their dogma.

Scientists don't have an issue with children being taught philosophies. They have an issue with them being presented as science.

String Theory was attacked (a may still be) for many years being a philosophy because of "untestability", which is pretty much the most insulting thing you can say about something being proposed as a theory. Testability is fundamental to science.
