No, this is a fun, and awesome film that i went in to expecting to not like because of how the first one turned out.

Though with the all things combined in the film and how entertained I was I gave it a 10. It was one of the better movies I have watched recently and compared to let down after let down , this one did not fail to entertain me and have me invested in it from start to end. So yes. 10 out of 10 for being an awesome movie and leaving me wanting more.

Whats laughable are people trying to complain that this movie isnt citizen kane.

Fair enough. I certainly didn't expect Citizen Kane. But considering these new sequels wipe the slate clean of all the original sequels and starts over again, as direct sequels to the original classic, I expected much better than what we got personally. Why bother cancelling the sequels when the new sequels are just as problematic?

They didn’t “cancel” anything. These movies have tons of homages to the previous films in the franchise. They just don’t acknowledge them as canon because the continuity is a mess.

Dislike the movies all you want, but McBride and DGG have nothing but love for the franchise as a whole. I don’t know how you can watch them and miss all of the callbacks.

Watched last night. Not bad. Not great. Call backs were cool.
Overall the writing was weak and lazy.
The whole section of chasing the wrong man was extremely lame.
unoriginal rip off done many times before.
Lucky folks- they actually get paid to “write” this stuff.

It has more love put into it than a lot of other entries, sure, but imo, makes a much better “part one” than it does a stand-alone film.
Kills is fast-paced, but it feels way more consistent and does a much better job of making one/two-scene characters likable before they’re inevitably killed, the humor is way more appropriately timed, the kills themselves are much better, the cinematography is leagues above 2018 (though not without flaws), and the movie itself is way more emotional. I don’t get the complaints that it has “no plot;” it has a lot of plot, it just doesn’t push the “Laurie vs Michael” narrative forward. The dialogue is definitely worse, though. I’ll give 2018 that much haha
How was the 2018 film originally ordered?

Halloween II onward is no longer canon. That's a fact. Michael and Laurie are no longer siblings. The events at the hospital in part II no longer happened. Jamie no longer exists from part 4. All facts.

What do you mean they weren't cancelled? A passing homage or callback does not mean they weren't cancelled/written out. They absolutely were. The only film that officially exists in this new timeline is the first film. None of the others happened now.

They still exist, you can watch them anytime. They just don’t acknowledge them as canon because it would’ve been impossible to restart the franchise with JLC. My point is that they don’t dislike the sequels or think they are better than them, as you implied.

The DGG trilogy has to ignore the previous movies. Laurie is said to be dead in 4,5,6 so those have to go. She dies in Ressurection so that one is also out. She pretty definitively kills Michael in H20, so that one is out since she killed Michael. All that's left in 2, and an earlier pitch was going to keep it, but since they wanted to drop the siblings thing that one has to go too.

Very smart to ignore the previous sequels. Now we get Micheal as originally written and John Carpenter involved and making some amazing soundtracks.

It’s revealed in Resurrection that she didn’t actually kill Michael in H20. She killed an innocent man. They could’ve done a sequel to Resurrection since we don’t actually witness Laurie dying for certain. She just got stabbed and fell in some trees so they could’ve easily brought her back if they wanted to. It would’ve been incredibly stupid, but still possible.

Why would Michael stop pursuing her in Ressurection if she survived, she very clearly died. I'm also not going to count a retcon from Ressuection against H20. As far as that movie is concerned she killed Michael.

He could’ve just assumed she died. A similar scene happens in Halloween 2018 when Michael stabs Laurie and throws her off the balcony.

Also as she steals the ambulance there’s an extra shot of the truck Michael came to the school in, letting you know he’s alive and even had a ride. Also Mike has never attempted to remove his mask in any other movie. She definitely doesn’t kill Michael at the end.

Michael has removed his mask two other times in the series. In Halloween 5 he removed it to put on the mask Tina’s boyfriend was wearing. When he takes that mask off you see him picking up his white mask. In the producer’s cut of Halloween 6 he put the mask on Dr. Wynn and wore Wynn’s cowboy hat.

Edit: He removes his mask a second time in H5 when Jamie says “Uncle, let me see” and a tear drop falls from his eye.

That was always the plan.

I stand corrected. Still, much as I don’t give a shit about Resurrections existence, she didn’t get him in H20.. it’s all Ll’s fault.

Actually he took his mask off a fourth time if we consider that he put it on a paramedic. But I think it’s safe to say that Michael never tried to take his mask off the way “he” did at the end of H20. I’m kind of surprised they left that in since the goal was to make everyone think Myers was dead until the sequel. I guess it worked though, because the way he was brought back is laughable and pretty unimaginable.

I don't know how the new filmmakers feel about the original sequels, but John Carpenter sure doesn't like part II. He's made that pretty clear over the years.

Yeah, because this film and the previous one aligns so well with the feel of the original with it's low amount of gore and violence, right.
