Default 607 All The Way!

This should not even be a question. One thing I have learned from technology is that it is always best to be up to date with hardware and software by any means. And hey, the 607 has a FRONT HDMI input and excellent sound quality (according to cnet.com).
Hope this helps you.

If you've learned this, then you've learned wrong. The 805/806 is a great example. It went on a diet and lost a lot of weight in the power supply/amplifier section. The recent trend of trading features for raw power makes it so you really need to research your purchase.

I can understand what you mean, in this case (606/607 debate) chances are in favor of the 607.

Based upon this post, I disagree:

What it boils down to is a compromise between power vs. features. Its whats more important to you.
I'm still waiting for got rice to post the specs, but I'm inclined to believe him.

Do you need the extra HDMI inputs in the 607, or care to add an extra subwoofer? Do you use the 7.1 analog inputs in the 606? I personally wouldn't "upgrade" because I do use the 7.1 analog inputs on my 605, even though I do need more HDMI inputs (the 606 has just enough for me though). Also the 607 doesn't have s-video inputs...

I actually tread lightly with drastically new models of electronics. I like to let the bugs get worked out with later versions. I wouldn't upgrade JUST because a newer model came out- without reading user reviews and such. I'm not that dude that camps out for two days only to find the new "toy" has to be recalled for some HUGE problem that somehow made it through testing.

Now the 607 seems like the next in a progression, but I bought my 606 after the 607 was just released. Same bang, less buck. (And I HATE having cables sticking out the front of my gear)

Just my 2cents
