There are so many threads regarding the new Samsung LED's that I thought my question would get lost in the shuffle. That is why the new thread.
I need your help. Getting ready to purchase possibility the 8000 My dilemma I have seen the 6000 and the 7000 up on the walls at BB, Fry's, etc. and they all look OK and on par with the sets beside them. The only TV that has WOWED me was the 8000 and that has been twice at different stores. But they were both using a Blu disc as a demo which looked fantastic. My question is would the PQ on 6000 and the 7000 look as good as the 8000 under the same conditions or is that PQ only on the 8000 because of the 240 Hz and the 2ms????? . |

I found a couple quotes from memberts of the AVSForm discussing the difference between the Samsung B7000 and the 8000 along with indepth review of 8000
"The 8000 uses a totally different panel. I think this is the key difference. The 8000’s panel has a response time of 2ms at 240hz. The 6 and 7s use a panel with 4ms at 120hz. According to one review the B8000 “uses twin MEMC (motion estimation motion compensation) chips to achieve a true 240 Hz refresh rate.” I would assume the 6000 and 7000’s only use one. This may allow for more HD Detail. maybe they interlace the image and split it between the two processors" -------------------------------------------------------------- "I only will mention a couple of things and one is uniformity... The 8000 is much better with regards to flashlighting and clouding and only this will be worth the money.. The b8000 has better process board and from the reviewer (the review link below) the 8000 has a much darker black and better contrast.. He measured the 7000 with the exact same instruments so it should be correct.. Trailing issues are not the only thing with regards to motion that favors the 240Hz. From what I have seen the B8000 keeps much more HD details when with high motion and I guess this is because of the better process board together with the 240Hz. Last, the B8000 have its colors and gamme at a higher level than the B7000 ie: a much better and stable greyscale" http://translate.google.com/translat...istory_state0= . I would love the 9000 except it will be about $4500.00. Right now I can get the 8000 for 3300.00. After looking at the 8000 and seening how fantastic the PQ is, I cannot see how the 9000 is going to be worth $1200.00 more then the 8000. Am I incorrect in this thought process? . |

Its going to be worth $1200 more because of the LD which means better contrast and black levels. are you really going to notice a difference from the already good PQ on the 8000? maby not. so no, your not incorrect with your thoughts. its just something i'd thought you should know.
As i said, if you have the money now and dont feel like waiting, or spending more money, then get the 8000. it really is a nice tv. Last edited by saprano; 06-01-2009 at 05:35 AM. |

Just helped my father in law buy the 8000 today (we bought also a whole Yamaha RXV665+ JBL set, and a Samsung BDP4600).
End bill was like "YikeS!- for me, but for him np. We will set this up in like two weeks, when he comes back from a trip. I told him, just knowing this stuff is going to sleep in boxes for two more weeks will be driving me nuts! He laughed ![]() |

I have now been watching the new 55B8000 for a couple days. I have not noticed any of the flashlighting, uniformity, reversed flashlighting, etc., etc. that people have been talking about and I have been worrying about.
All I can see is one beautiful PQ. The only PQ that gave me the "WOW" feeling while searching for a new TV. Not even the Kuro did it for me. Should have I waited for the new 9000 to arrive? My answer is "NO" for the following reasons: 1) I do not see how the PQ on the 9000 could possibly be better then the 8000. If so, then the difference was picked up by an instrument, not by the human eye. 2) I picked up the 8000 delivered for $3099. The new 9000 will be around $4900. Even if an instrument could pick up a slight PQ difference between the two, the 9000 will not be worth an extra $1800.00. Just my opinion. . |

My a750 did have flashlighting under brighter calibrations, but that was fixed from loosining up the screws in the rear of the panel cover ( it actually comes pressed to tight against the screen like alot of flashlight lcd's do , and distorts where the light can shine through the cracks ) and calibration.. now i have none.. But if you have FL on a LED, you fail , and might as well bring it back, cuz they are near impossible to have ( Very noticeable ) at least |

I'm going to wait for the 9000 in september. What's an extra $1500 in a bad economy anyway?
