Well we know there are 80s Cannon titles in the deal (3 new to Blu, and there could be more previously on Blu), so I'm not sure what the Insider could have lied about specifically, unless I missed something?

It doesn't have to be a denial-related lie, but if it is, here's what I have:

- 'Doesn't think' there is any noir
- No new-to-Blu 60s teen movies or 60s/70s biker movies
- No animation
- No 'coming of age' films
- No 60s or 70s horror
- No 70s sci-fi
- No new-to-Blu 80s horror
- No 90s erotic thrillers
- No new-to-Blu 60s or 70s AIP
- No titles formerly released by Olive Films
- No UHD upgrades of titles previously released by Criterion (I wouldn't be surprised if it was this)
- Nothing from 1975
- No Italian-produced films

And specific titles ruled out:

Marat/Sade
Matchless
The Babysitter
The Old Gun
Park Row
Radioactive Dreams
Wild at Heart
Last Tango in Paris
Operation Kid Brother
Enemy Territory
Down Twisted

I watched BODY SLAM for the first time last night and it was a fun 80's comedy. I can't believe I didn't see this on back in the day. If you're a fan of 80's comedies, Wrestling and Rock-N-Roll I suggest you give this one a try.

Most people are fine with owning them on DVD and don't feel the need to upgrade. It's a bit different with other genres, which are usually more cinematic and visual.

Even all-time classic dramas don't sell as well as classics from other genres.

Aren't Noirs essentially dramas, and Bob Hope films comedies? I thought these sold well. No?

Well, if there ever "has" to be a "lie", it has to be about an important title or actor that they don't want to give away, for example a Skullduggery one, saying there's no Burt Reynolds which would have confirmed it.
P.S. Isn't there at least 1 new-to-disc 80s Cannon title that had past clearance issues?

All genres can fall under the "drama" category, Noirs are mostly crime films and some of them action-packed.

Most of our Hope releases are sub-genre comedies, noir, espionage, adventure, western... The worst selling ones are the straight comedies.

Since You Went Away is a classic and sold well, I'll Be Seeing You is a lesser classic and performed okay.

Here's a list of some "classic" dramas/comedies from our Disney deal that performed poorly, some very poorly: For Love of Ivy, Intermezzo, The Young in Heart, The Garden of Allah, Ruby Gentry, Kotch, Topaze, How Do I Love Thee?, A Bill of Divorcement (1932 and 1940), Smashing Time, Good Times, Made for Each Other, Nothing Sacred, The Rover, Lovers and Other Strangers, Suppose They Gave a War and Nobody Came?, Ring of Bright Water, The Wild Heart/Gone to Earth, Indiscretion of an American Wife, Jenny...

Sorry to hear that "Istanbul" (with Errol Flynn) isn't legally cleared. That's definitely my most wanted '57 title. But Tyrone Power's "Mississippi Gambler" seems more and more likely as the '53 picture.

For '52 I'm hoping for either "Meet Danny Wilson", a noirish romance with songs starring Frank Sinatra and Shelley Winters or "Has Anybody Seen My Gal?", a start to finish charmer (in Technicolor) set in the 1920's. That one's directed by Douglas Sirk in rare comedy mode. Piper Laurie and Rock Hudson star but it's character actor Charles Coburn who steals the show in one of his all-time best performances.
Either of these films would be extremely welcome additions to Kino's Blu-ray lineup.

KLI,

Out of curiosity, were any titles from the Disney deal renewed or are all eventually going out of print? Thanks again.

The most recent Australian release of THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR is NTSC-friendly, so no PAL speedup issues. It is DVD, and maybe someday they'll upgrade those to Blu-ray. The DVDs look pretty good overall, akin to the DVD releases of TWILIGHT ZONE and OUTER LIMITS.

More OOP based on previously being in the "While Supplies Last" sale and now no longer appearing on the website:

Crossing the Bridge (1992) / Indian Summer (1993) (BD) (DVD still available)
The Grissom Gang (1971) (BD) (DVD still available)
Krakatoa: East of Java (1969) (BD) (DVD previously OOP)

Well I just placed my order. Better late than never. Most of the titles I got were from the While Supplies Last as those suckers go up in price insanely after they go OOP.

Where did KL Insider say this? If its true, there are a couple of region free brit blus I'll probably bite on, but want to see what he actually said.

That rules out several British horror movies I have on my want list if true, the only one that could still potentially be part of the Sony deal under that is Night/Curse of the Demon

To be clear, this is only in relation to Kino's new MGM deal.

This list of underperformers includes some of my favorite Kino titles,
especially
"The Garden of Allah" with its incredible vintage Technicolor and Dietrich conveying that heady mix of gravity and rapture only she can conjure up
and
"Gone to Earth"
Jennifer Jones in Powell & Pressburger's largely unsung pastoral masterpiece

Am also fond of "Made for Each Other"(Carole Lombard & James Stewart),
"The Young in Heart"(Janet Gaynor, Doug Fairbanks Jr & Paulette Goddard)
and the one-of-a-kind comedy "Smashing Time" with Lynn Redgrave and Rita Tushingham as two naive small-towners hitting London during its Carnaby Street heyday. Enjoyed that one at the cinema in the 60's. And was thrilled to see it emerge on Blu-ray.
Sorry these didn't do better for Kino. And sorry so many people seem to have passed on the chance to discover and enjoy them.

Wait whoa. I need to pull this out of my unwatched pile. I've only seen a couple of their films but they are wonderful
