Pre-ordered the limited edition for the first film. Already own the 4-film box-set (two separate cases version). I think I will just wait for the 6-film box-set to drop in price (maybe Black Friday?) and flip the 4-film box-set on eBay afterwards.

Strange New Worlds was incredible — Star Trek through and through. Even for ST fans who have hated the new Trek series, I can’t imagine how you could hate this one. They did a great job… finally.

Strange New Worlds is fantastic. It captures the heart and soul of original Star Trek so well.

No chance they’re individual cases inside that box.

Discovery is uneven but I enjoy it.

Picard I thought got off to strong starts in both seasons but went downhill, the latter faster and further than the first. Like the show will start off with interesting new elements and angles and then it has no interest in exploring them. Frustrating and boring.

Strange New Worlds is delightful.

Bonus round: I expected to hate The Orville as I hate the animated shows MacFarlane is known for but I had to speedrun the show to interview an actor for a local news website and it grew on me.

I thought the best part of Discovery was Jason Isaacs. I was hoping they'd bring him back. I made it through the first two seasons and had to quit.

And I've only made it through one season of Picard. I watched the first episode of the second season and I was like, "Nope."

I've only seen the clips of Strange New Worlds. It looks decent.

I haven't seen Strange New Worlds as I don't have Parmount+ and I'm not going to subscribe to another streaming service. I'll admit, it has piqued my curiosity.

Thing is, when I come across YouTube videos about the show, I get the impression they're re-treading ground already covered in the Original Series. Crew vs. the Gorn. Crew vs. the Romulans. Spock goes to Vulcan for a PonFar thing, etc.

Is that actually the case? Mind you, this is just the impression I'm getting, I haven't actually seen the show. I could be wrong.

Sometimes. We still haven’t seen the Gorn outright, some ships and a baby one in an Alien-like episode, and the Spock stuff is more us watching his relationship with T’Pring fall apart in slow motion in the years before the dramatic breakup in “Amok Time”. Plus it has plenty of totally new stuff going on too, so it’s not as simple as “retreading”.

I just bought the old 4-movie set from Amazon, which is on sale now. Should the movies and extras be the same for Star Trek 2 thru 4?

I mean the whole point of the show really is to be a new "old" Trek. That's what it has been designed to be, in contrast to Discovery and Picard being quite modern television in feel.

I’m thinking that the 6 films will get reissued again but in lovely Steelbook editions with the original poster art like the upcoming individual releases…..

I mean, I've already got all those 2-disc SEs, had them for years. I'd just love to have that slipbox to house them in. On a related note, I'm gonna pick up all the original DVDs that they did for the movies. I've already got 4 and 6, the former for the UK prologue and the latter for the specific pre-BONG! cut of the movie that it contains, but I thought I'd get the rest too.

I to went out and bought the DVD editions, except I got them for the inserts and the front covers, the covers lack the Star borders of these new releases and I much prefer the alternate cover to Star Trek 4. I’m taking them and having them sized down and printed at a professional print shop. I’ll slide them over the top of the UHD covers and the resized inserts are going in the cases I also have multi disc UHD cases and intend to keep the UHD,blus,&dvd special editions together

What exactly is the UK prologue and pre bong ? We’re these only available on the UK single DVDs. Did they put them on the 2 disc special edition DVDs later ?

There’s an intro to IV that was only seen overseas (it’s on YouTube), and for VI, he’s referring to the “bongs” that Meyer added to the mind-meld scene with Spock and Valeris. There’s a comparison between the theatrical and Director’s Cut on YouTube as well.

Agree with you on these. Strange New Worlds is just an absolute joy to watch. A great throwback to the TOS days with a little TNG flare. Episodic, but with some arc welding from episode to episode still, a la DS9. Probably the best first season of a Star Trek show since the original.

Discovery I've only seen the first two seasons, which were up and down, but hoping to watch the rest soon.

Picard I was the most excited about ironically, and therefore feel the most let down by. The starts of both seasons were super promising, but lost steam by the middle before completely botching the endings. Not sure if the TNG reunion for season 3 will change the quality, but we'll see I guess.

So, do you get any 'EXTRA' value on the discs... or indeed an extra disc... by getting the box set over the individual releases??

And, is it best to get the international STMP - Star Trek Motion Picture box set over the U.S. one??

Thank you.
