I don't agree.

I own 11 from the list with one waiting to buy, four of them blind buys (*) based on positive reviews I'd read about them. Bolt was the weakest of the blind buys imo.

Baraka*
Blade Runner
Bolt*
Casino Royale (SE)
The Dark Knight
How The West Was Won*
Iron Man
POTC: COTBP
Planet Earth*
Ratatouille
300 (Digibook) - waiting to buy
Wall-E

Casablanca is the only other one on the list that I have any interest in purchasing.

"Rescue Dawn"? "Mad Men Seaon 1"? No "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind"? No Spidermans?

Strange list.

Despite my modest BD collection at this point, I was surprised that I had 14 on their list.

Of course, I too believe that such lists are quite subjective.

I have about 20 of them but i agree its all subjective. The matrix, Godfather and BOB should make anyones top 25 on merit alone, with no bias on how you like the movie.

I take it they are just going by looks and not the films themselves. Some of these movies are terrible. They might look good on blu ray so maybe thats why. Manos the Hands of Fate would probably look great on blu, doesn't mean it's a must have.

I don't what they, or anyone else, base these lists on. I thought it was a decent list, but surely not completely accurate. And they can't be, as we all have different tastes in movies. It did accomplish something positive for me though. I had never even considered Rescue Dawn before (although I love war movies), so I looked up the review here and I think I'm gonna bite on it.

So in retrospect, the list did serve a purpose as it got me to consider movies I wouldn't have otherwise.

I have 10 of them. IMO this list is a little questionable, there were several strange picks.

When we get closer to November-December, this is what I would like to see on Blu-ray.com:

Each of the Blu-ray.com official reviewers give their top picks of the year and then a people's choice top 10 of the year. That is strictly for 2009 releases. It's one thing for IGN, CNET and others to do their top 25 but because this forum is quite diverse, it would be great to start doing this. Heck, we can even attempt the best releases for the first half of 2009. But it would have to be a collaborative effort.
