Joe Sakic is officially retiring tomorrow.

I saw it coming with all of the rebuilding type moves the Avs made, and with his injuries last season. Hard to picture the team without him though.

I was expecting him to stay one more here to help Duchesne along. I think he will still be part of the organization somehow. But yes, sad day. Incredible player / captain / person.

Good point. Not 100% confirmed yet. 2 million sounds a small amount to go to the KHL when he could definitely get that somewhere else in the NHL. I'm sure taxes come into play.
