it shocks me how many people still take imdb as gospel

13 was finished in 4K though, that much is true at least.

Fun trilogy. Looking forward to this as the Blu-rays look terrible.

Soderbergh has mentioned trying to get his movies out on 4K or at least remastered in 4K.

Quote:
It also coincided with a project that I think is going to take a long, long time, which is to attempt to get everything I’ve done re-mastered and brought into the 4K HDR world. We’ve been spending a lot of time lately focusing on some of the titles that have reverted back to me and that I control.

Man, I'd really love Side Effects, Erin Brockovich and Traffic.

11 definitely should do. It was made in 2001 - so i'm sure it was shot and finished on nice, lovely film !!!

Not gospel. I did say I "hoped" it was true - not that I thought it was 100% the case.

I haven’t ever seen 13 nor have I watched 12 in years, but I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed Ocean’s 11. Definitely picking this up!

Why would that mean using a 4K DI?

I think both of the sequels are pretty bad. The first is phenomenal. I barely remember the other two but what I do remember about 12 is that it seemed like an excuse to go on a vacation and make a movie. 13 tried to get the magic back of 11 and failed.

That's literally correct. The last scene in 12 is nothing more than Soderbergh shooting home-movies of his well-paid cast throwing a big party for themselves. It's self-indulgent trash, and the only way I'm buying 12 is if there are no individual releases.

First one is terrific, third one is fun.

There are no projects listed on the other two movies.

Rarely updated though, finished projects still up.

These movies all suffer a little from Hollywood worship, or whatever term you want to use. "These A-list actors are such royalty!" type stuff. Maybe that's an homage to the OG rat pack or maybe it just works for the type of movie he was making, but it's not a Soderbergh issue in general at all and I assume it was on purpose.

That said it's a minor criticism IMO and all three movies are great fun.

The new 4K masters have been available for a year on Netflix in some countries...

The first one was finished photochemically (no DI) so it's a superb upgrade compared to the old BD

Brand new 4K scan

Side Effects yes. But more importantly, Solaris (2002).

Soderbergh already remastered Solaris in 4K HDR, a few years ago, he talked about it in an interview he did, right before Fox was sold to the mouse and the film was locked away in the Disney VaultŠ.
