The best part is, of course, the interviews with cast & crew, the coup being a short interview with Lynch. There's some thorough research put into this and a bit of analysis of how much the Lynch DUNE has permeated popular culture, despite the overall perception that the film was/is a 'campy failure'.

Looks like Via Vision in Australia has a new Blu-ray coming out with the extended TV cut, a new commentary with Max Evry (who wrote the book and article linked in the last few posts), and an extended version of that "The Sleeper Must Awaken" documentary.

I noticed that too, right after I splurged for the Arrow Deluxe steelbook on Mercari oh well, it looks pricey as heck from AUSland too

I have this pre-ordered! I can finally retire my old steelbook DVD that had the TV cut.

So is the extended Doc longer than what was on the Plaion box set? I can’t recall.

Not sure, but Via Vision says the extended version is exclusive to their set.

Though if I'm to be honest, I watched the documentary on the Koch set and thought it was very dry. Basically audio interviews with crewmembers edited to concept art, production stills, films clips. All probably because it was produced during the pandemic, but would love some new video interviews with the cast! Though the interviews in that oral history book go a long way towards scratching that itch.

I don’t get why this doesn’t get Imprint branding, seems an arbitrary distinction.

The info page is a little vague, but is there any chance the TV cut won't be in HD?

I’m thinking double dipping on both the Arrow 4K and the Imprint Blu-ray is a good idea.

Also, by pure luck I got a Beta in a lot that has a “Terminology Of The Imperium” book inside. Cool piece of tat for the movie that I don’t think has been in any non-tape releases of the movie yet.

Just finished it - great book on the whole and certainly the Dune version of 'Future Noir' (the Blade Runner bible). A bit of fluff perhaps and probably only for real fans of Lynch's Dune though.

Thanks for that. I love info about the fonts used in various movies/tv. I first got hooked after reading this:

im re-reading dune right now, and i like both lynch's dune and denis' dune (haven't seen part 2 yet) - but i think both kinda dropped the ball on all the political intrigue before the harkonnen/sardaukar attack. the dinner party scene was so good and would've at least worked nicely in lynch's dune with all the inner dialogues.
