Definitely...bought one about 2-3 months ago and never regretted it for a second. I usually buy Yamaha receivers, but I got tired of waiting for 1.3 from them and, now that they're finally coming out, I still have no regrets

I just recently purchased this reciever and have had it hooked up to my PS3 for about a week. It is awesome, you won't be dissapointed. I use the THX ultra 2 listening mode for all PCM uncompressed blu ray audio movies and it does a great job. 300 and Pearl harbor sound incredible.

just some advice...

I know you will want to connect everything with HDMI, but some food for thought, being that the receiver has only 1 HDMI output, this means every component you use through HDMI will have to share the same picture settings in the HDTV. (brightness, Contrast,color...etc) So what will look good on the PS3 might not look so great on cable TV...

so, maybe consider running your Cable either through component to the receiver-hdtv (you can only get 720p-1080i cable anyways, and no losseless audio, so component and optical cable is fine)...or run and HDMI cable from your Cable box directly to and HDMI input on the TV and then an optical to receiver.

This way you can adjust the pic settings for seperate components to get a better picture.

just a thought.

I bought the Onkyo Tx Sr 804 and hooked it up to my PS3. Hooked directly to my TV, my PS3 that is, I get a great picture. Hooked up through my reciever however, I'm seeing major distortions. The picture has what looks like static and the picture keeps jumping. WTF is going on? Sometimes it's not as bad. Sometimes it's so bad the screen blacks out for a few seconds. Even while playing PS3 games, theirs static sometimes present in the game. It's really bad in the FMV sceens.

When I turn on the PS3, it starts just as soon as you see the menu. When I sign in to the PSN, it's fine on some menus, jumps like hell on others. It doesn't make sense. How can I fix this. I can't be the only person to have this happen too.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section. First post and all.

Yes too both. It still should work though. It came with the same warranty as if I had bought it new.

refurb warranty will not be same as if you got it "new"...especially from an unauthorized dealer.

getting past that, how long is your hdmi cable and have you tried a different cable?? normally its not the cable's fault, but always best to start easy and work way up to find solution...

have you tried jiggling the cable, sometime a firm connection isnt made or it is simply not in straight?

The cables are at least six foot. I have two. Have tried them both several times, and still the picture jumps.

are you running 1080i/p or 720p? so you say a 6ft to the receiver then another 6 foot to the TV?

It really sounds like its having a hard time with the Handshake when going through the receiver. Try turning on your TV first, then the receiver, then the PS3...see if that does anything?

heres a random try, probably not a solution but check the setting:

from pg.47 of your user manual, there is a selectable option in your settings

8.Hardware Setup
------------------------
a.PoweredZone2:NotAct
b.TV Format :Auto
c.AM Freq. Step: 9kHz
d.Remote ID :1

Should be set to NTSC or Auto. (just a long shot)

Perhaps the receiver is bringing it from 1080P to 480 or something....
