This is crazy. I love this show with all my heart, but this is getting ridiculous. Unless they have removed the laugh track, there's nothing on this release that's not on the 10th Anniversary edition of the ENTIRE SERIES, besides a snazzy new cover.
Has there been another instance of a TV show getting THIS many releases? In November of 2002, Disney released the complete series on DVD [Show spoiler] September 30th 2008, SHOUT! Factory released a 10th Anniversary set of the Complete Series. [Show spoiler] Now, this week Shout! Factory has released Season 1 DVD with all the bonus features that were on the 10th Anniversary edition. [Show spoiler]

I just wasn't sure why this release is happening, seeing as how the VERY SAME COMPANY (Shout!) put out the 10th Anniversary Complete Set back in late 2008. With the EXACT SAME EXTRAS. If they could ever somehow remove the laugh track I would love it. Is that even possible to go back and remove the laugh track without affecting the regular audio? That would be something worth looking at. |

Loved Sports Night, have watched the series on DVD about 3 times, although it's been a few years since I last saw it. It had a perfect cast, and many of the actors went on to bigger things. That said, the laugh track was awful and completely unnecessary.
Also, I own the original Disney release, and have no idea why they (Shout Factory) thought it was a good idea to release the first season on it's own, especially considering the second season isn't available on it's own and the complete series can be had for $10 more. |

The only advantage I see is that this new first season release looks pretty slim, at least compared to the full series release back from 2002 (which is the one I still proudly own). But is that enough of a reason to buy the newer version? Not for me.
I'd buy Sports Night on Blu-Ray and replace my DVDs, for space reasons, but replacing one DVD set for another DVD set just isn't my thing. And now I'm realizing I haven't watched this series in forever. Has to be a good 5 years or so since I even sat down to watch an episode or two. I really loved this show when it was first on, it might be time to give it another viewing. |

The release of "Sports Night" DVDs has become frustrating for fans, as the new release by Shout! Factory offers no significant new content beyond a new cover compared to the 10th Anniversary edition. The series has seen multiple versions since Disney's original release in 2002 and the 10th Anniversary edition in 2008. Fans feel these frequent re-releases are excessive, especially without any changes like the removal of the laugh track.
