Default New Sony Surround, Look at the size of it!!!

Some of you may have seen this before but it shocked me! Check out how small these speakers are. They can't sound all that great....

Also is HDMI and has upscaling.

This sort of thing may appeal to folks who are starting their first HT surround speaker system, or who live in an apartment with limited space. I don't think they will sound that great either.

I know. I lived with small satellite speakers for years before upgrading to full-range bookshelf speakers for my surrounds. There is a dramatic difference.

I'll say "no" already just by looking at the size. I'll say no to Bose either.

The guys from Office Space DID use them. It was their backup idea when the Jump to Conclusions mat tanked at Toys R Us.

I just saw that setup the other day at Best Buy or Costco, can't remember. The player is sexy, and if it had a Blu-ray player, I was going to tell my dad to buy it.

When we first got the HDTV, Bluray and HDDVR, we retired the old POS DVD changer with surround speakers that we got free. We were actually surprised at how much we missed the effects of those meager speakers and went the next week and got the receiver, speakers and wired the walls. It's a good starting point to get a newbie addicted to home theater.

If you bought that system you'd be suffering from speaker envy inside of a week.

Does it go with that small LCD display as well?

Damn, my car's surround sound system has bigger speakers than that.

Oh, when it comes to speakers, size does matter if you want good low/mid frequencies and volume, it's kind of hard to move air if you don't have a surface big enough to move it.

Woah, I just saw the huge sub that comes with it, I guess they crossover pretty high for the small speakers and send everything else to the "sub".

size does matter to a certain degree not 100%, depends on how they make it and the material they use.

check out the Bose surround sound system, smaller than most speaker even for bedroom, but still sounds GREAT

I think they would be perfect companion to a pc with a Blu-ray drive. If the speakers are mounted pretty much on or near a desk, right next to the user, then they would probably sound great in such close proximity.

As long as the subwoofer has a decent kick....

I saw that at Fry's a week ago. IMO too expensive for what it is and not that good of sound. Then again I'm an audio snob
