Just to make sure I understand... Should I leave my receiver's listening mode to "Direct" so it just plays the audio from the source?

Just wanted to note that Direct mode will disable most of the post-processing, so things like bass management are not available. Good for 2 channel full range (no sub) music listening (Pure Audio will also do that better), but for everything else you'll want PCM Multichannel.
