gvortex7 - Test and read your links before you attach them. It's for FF1 not FF2.

I've all but given up on Best Buy, except as a last resort. They've given me problems about pricematching their own website, on many occassions.

Read the quote I responded to. The guy wanted a lower price for the first FF movie, NOT the second one. That's exactly what I gave him.

...do they really price match anyone though (excepts amazon.com)? Like websites that have no stores (Newegg.com, etc...)? That wold be great.
Actually Target is Amazon so just go into Targets site to print out price matches. That's what I've done and it's worked great!!

I admire price matches, it shows retailers are willing to compete, but I find it annoying that you have to bring proof in. If they want your business they should be aware of their competitors prices (locally at least)........i.e. fry's...they hold all their competitors ads and if you go in and claim a price, they already know about it, and if they don't they will go online and research it.
I got grandma's boy (dvd) for 9.99 and didn't have proof that BB had it on sale, but they looked it up and once they found it, matched it and then changed the price in their system to reflect it for everyone else also.
That's going above and beyond! That's price matching!

To the gentleman that thinks i bought used movies and music blurays.. errrr wrong..they were all new factory sealed blurays ..

open season $16
the prestige $13
happy feet $15
casino royale $14
ice age 2 $12
apocalypto $14
Flight of the phoenix $14
Transporter $13
The Rock UK import $40

most were ebay and some were also from best buys buy 1 get 1 free sale theyve had. Prices were all after tax and after shipping as you see listed

so as you can see, its The Rock that put me really over but i didnt care as logn as i had it cuz its probably top 3 movie all time for me. Woulda done the same for transformers had it been on bluray

They aren't supposed to price match online sites, unless it is a brick & mortar store like Target or Walmart. You are lucky if you can get away with online matching.

They would be losing alot of money if they price matched everything! It is your responsibility to bring in the proof. It's like a coupon, how can you expect a store to honor it if you dont have it?

They wouldn't lose anything, they just wouldn't make as much money as they normally would. No one sells movies below cost. Some retailers just charge less money in oder to lure in customers, so once in the store they can buy other things as well. It's a marketing ploy.

When I worked at BB a couple of years ago, I always thought it was stupid when someone would want us to match competitors price because in the same shopping center was CC, office depot and max, compUSA, target was down the street. Why even bother? Just go there, it's all about pride, "Hey man, I made BB go down on their price, I'm the coolest." I can understand though if the other place is out of stock, but that is hardly ever the case.

Believe it or not, most people do it out of loyalty towards that particular store. I'm sure you've heard of brand loyalty, well there is also this kind of loyalty when it comes to B&M stores. Not everyone thinks that Best Buy is the worst place to buy from. Many people like going in there, browsing around (bad sales associates notwithstanding) on their own and checking things out. If they have one good experience then chances are they'll come back.

I got The Messengers on eBay for $9, $13 after shipping.

I live in Canada and the only time BestBuy gave me a problem about price matching was with tigerdirect, they eventually did the match but said it was an exception to the rule.

You're totally right, store loyalty definitely does exist and many stores do count on it.

But IMO, there isn't a great amount of benefit to have store loyalty to a chain except for consistency in their customer service, which unfortunately may still vary depending on your luck.

That said, I do have store loyalty to several owner-operated stores and I will drive over three hours to get something from some of them because I get great personal service, good products and sometimes I'll even pay more for it because it does pay back more than just points on a reward program.

I've had nothing but issues when it comes to BB and price matching.

You have to bring in the ad (understandable) but they insist on a stock check. Staples had some DVD-Rs for sale, they were closed so I went to BB...the difference was $5. They would not do it, and the manager was a real pr**k about it, even though I was nice about it. I simply went to Staples the next day and bought the blank discs, they had plenty.
The next thing was matching Fry's sale on "Corpse Bride" BD. Fry's had it in the ad for $12.50. This was a different store and a different manager so they let it slide (Fry's had plenty, I didn't feel like driving another 14 miles one way). However I heard her tell the cashier "next time don't do this, it's below our cost."
My local CC is much better at price matching. The pr**k BB manager said "see if they're still around in 6 months"...their smugness is off putting in the worst way.

Guys, if you have issues at any store, simply look the manager in the eye and ask for the Corporate complaint number. Once you get that and call, they will take care of you. They made a printing error in their circular about getting a gift card with the purchase of a game The add implied you get a gift card with the purchase of one game, but they meant you get a gift card if you buy both games. It was for Guitar Hero 2 and Guitar Hero Rock The 80s. My friend got the number, and they mailed her the card and then some.

You may not get on the spot savings, but you'll will get taken care of. Especially if it's company policy to price-match.

I scored an Amazon price match at one of my local Best Buys. I had the girl look up 6 Blu-rays. When I got to the counter, I was met with I guess a 2nd in command.

Some playing stupid and being nice got me: "We're not supposed to do this, but we will this one time."

That was before I had prime on Amazon though. B&M is stupid. I go to Amazon where I get the best price (unless a sale somewhere), free 2-day shipping and no tax.

No tax is almost like buy 12 get 1 free in itself.
