Question onkyo manual eq settings

i usually use audyssey to set my eq & spoeaker distances, then i use the spl meter to get everything calibrated.

anyway, i was thinking about doing my eq manually instead of audyssey

does anyone set their eq settings on manual?
if so what are your settings?

For either oif my receivers i stick to the auto eq built into em i dont have an spl meter but would definetly set it manually if/when i get one and by the way u should definetly get a tape measure and manually change the spk dist.'s to what the tape measure reads all xcept the sub

Thumbs down Manual settings

As every house is different, so would be the settings. What works in my house DEFINTELY would NOT work in your house. You'll just have to use trial and error if using the manual settings.

For my 805, I stay with Audyssey, nothing manual comes close to its capabilities. However, I have read over at AVS that some believe that they get better results with manual EQ.

My question is why do you ask about the settings of others that may be using manual EQ? The whole purpose of EQ is to correct frequency response issues in a specific room, and to a lesser degree, allow the user to manually set their "preferred" EQ, which may actually be worse than what is correct, but perceived by the listener to be better. In other words, how someone else sets their EQ settings should have no bearing on how anybody else set theirs.

Hey Don I use my own manual settings. I prefer manual vs audyssey. But like HidefRev said everybody house is different. In my case I make an imaginary "V" in the keys of the manual EQ and give me a deep sound in movies and music concerts!
You can try this if you don't like it you can run Audyssey back again.
Just try it for curiosity, then you can talk to us about your experience.
Good luck.

Don, I know it's off topic, but, how is your 806 doing? I know the other day you said you had a scare with it. I'll gather it's been doing fine since then and maybe it was just a glitch?
