Default Which "old red" films are you still wanting on blu? (+ some bonus Qs)

Just checked DVDaf.com for a list of HD films... and these are the ones that are not yet on blu that I want to see

Alpha Dog
Apollo 13
Being John Malkovich
Big Lebowski
Born on the 4th of July
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Erin Brockovich
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Forbidden Planet
Grand Prix
Half Baked
Jerk, The
Mallrats
Mystery Men
Ray
Scent of a Woman
Smokey and the Bandit

on a side note why have these not been released on blu if they already have HD releases?

Also about how much is a HD player? Thinking Id be willing to get a cheap one and pick these up if they are good looking (IDK how transfers for these or any HDs were)

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Erin Brokovich are available as both U and HK import Blu-ray Discs.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is avaialble as both a Japanese and Canadian import Blu-ray Disc.

Most of these Universal releases and Universal has been very slow at releasing Blu-ray Discs. This could be due to their agreement with Toshiba over HD DVD.

As for HD DVD players, unless you can get one for under $40, its not worth hunting them down. The Universal releases have very good video quality and audio is good but lossy Dolby Digital Plus at 1.5mbs. The Warner releases also have good picture quality but again audio is Dolby Digital Plus at 640kbs.

Also, make sure that you get the high-end HD-A35 which can output 1080/24f. The lower end HD-A3 only outputs 720p and 1080i video.

Ive checked AMZ and ebay and couldnt find any for like under 50/60... found a few more titles that interest me but think it makes more sense to just be patient and wait for blu, right? I mean if I could get one for under 40 Id be game probably
