Default what is your criteria for double dipping?

now that I have gone blu ray im wondering what I have in my dvd collection that is worth upgrading to blu ray?
I do check the dvd comparisons on dvd beaver but other than that it seems like a lot of reviews dont really discuss whether a particular blu ray is much better than its dvd counterpart
my oppo does a heck of a job upconverting by the way

I double dip if:

1) it's one of my favorites...... In this case, I'll double dip even given only a marginal improvement in one aspect or another...... basically no matter what!

2) I enjoy the movie enough to give it multiple viewings (beyond what I've already given it) and it has significant audio and/or video improvements.

3) My DVD wasn't in O.A.R.

4) I like the movie, but may only watch it a couple more times in my life, but it's one of the $10 or less deals at Amazon........ then I'll probably snag it if I have my other priorities out of the way (other releases)

I'm sure there are other reasons/criteria, but that's mostly it.

If no one is looking then I double dip into the salsa.

But seriously, I don't watch any of my dvd's and gave most of them away so I would double dip.

Like Fight Club, I've own 3 copies before buying the BD.

I double dip if I really like the movie AND they did a good job with the blu-release and it included lossless audio.

There are also some movies I'm waiting for (Armageddon and The Abyss) where the DVD didn't even have an anamorphic release.

same as when I don't double dip.

If it is a movie I would like to see then I buy it. If I had it on DVD or not, does not matter.

I generally only buy things once.

But with my DVD collection being pretty big for the average consumer, if something hits the $9.99 price range I'll consider double dipping if it's an action/sci-fi movie. Or if it's really good.

I won't spend more than $9.99 on a double dip though. Hell, most of my BD collection I have spent an average of $12.99 on via previously viewed {when BD is THIS young it's like practically buying a new movie only cheaper} or via brand new movies going on sale.

I haven't really double-dipped as my DVD collection is rather miniscule, but I'd like to for movies like Braveheart, Gladiator and a few others. Like mentioned earlier though, I won't pay a premium price for them. As such, I still haven't upgraded those DVD's.

Basically if the price is right and/or I like the movie, I will re-buy it on BD.

I had very few DVDs prior to getting my Blu-ray player, so I double dipped with everything I owned. Now I'm just waiting for movies like Animal House and Anchorman.

For me it would depend on what movie if it is and if BD would make a big difference in my enjoyment. For example, I heard that the Oldboy Blu-ray's PQ isn't that much higher than an upconverted DVD.

Same here. I'm selling all by DVDs on eBay save for the few I don't think will ever be released on BD.

I will double dip for I love the new format. My dvd collection is not that big either. I believe I will end up buying more blu-rays then dvds I ever had.

My DVD collection was rather small to begin with (60), and they were my favorite movies so I'll be most likely getting them on BD.

This is pretty much it, right here. Since my collection will be almost exclusively must-owns for me, that's it.

I didn't have that many DVDs before upgrading, so I didn't really have any "double-dipping rules"
