Default Onkyo HT s6200 best audio settings??

ok so i finally got my onkyo ht s6200 system. Awesome by the way. although i havent set up the rear speakers and callibrated because the speaker wire was too short and i need to change the speaker wire anyway. But so far i gave it a listen with the five speakers and subwoofer. Im using a ps3 for blu rays, older version, not slim ps3. Anyway, hooking it up and playing some movies i noticed the various settings when playing a blu ray. Mulitch, pro logic, neo...etc...

can anyone tell me which setting is the best for blu ray audio. And if i need to change the settings according to what the audio is, like for true hd 5.1, dts HD, and 7.1. Is there a setting that lets you hear the way it is meant too. I know some of those settings add post processing to enhance the audio. if anyone can help i would appreciate it thanks!!!!

Make sure your audio output on the PS3 is set to output PCM. The audio setting you want on your reciever will be the Multichannel setting as this will provide you with the lossless hd audio you seek. That is as long as you are using an HDMI cable.

Make sure the "AUDIO SEL" on the receiver is set to "Auto". Most blu ray movies default to the Dolby TrueHD or dtsHD Master soundtracks, but not all. Some default to the regular Dolby Digital track. You may need to manually choose the HD track on those, if there is one. I use the Dolby Pro Logic IIx setting, only when watching tv.
Enjoy!

I checked the manual for your model online. On page 52, on the right side of the page, is instructions for setting the receiver to "Auto", so it will automatically detect the digital soundtrack of the source. They made it a lot harder to set it on your's than on mine. Mine is just a button on front of receiver. Just set it to Auto and leave it. You still may to manually choose on certain discs, as I said earlier. If it doesn't say Dolby TrueHD or dtsHD Mstr, in receiver's display after the movie starts, just press the "Audio" button on your remote, and choose the right soundtrack.

He said he had an original PS3.... so that will be an issue he'll want to check on the PS3 not the receiver.

Right. Your receiver's display should show " PCM MULTI ", or something similar.

thanks for all the input...i have another question. When im watching blu ray's i can't see the audio logo on the reciever. For instance if im watching a dolby trueHD, i wont see it. I mostly use the multi ch option. again im using an older version of ps3, not the slim. Am i still getting the full audio from the blu ray?

actually i sort of answered my own question..i read emox post, he said i need to set my reciever to auto, so the reciever can choose which audio is being played. although i dont see the logo still, now my ps3 display says dts multi or if its true hd, it says dolby digtal multi..that didnt happen before, only after i did the auto on the reciever. so im guessing i dont have to change it everytime i put a different movie. make sense? Any advice?

aslo i dont see mulit ch on the reciever display like i use too. Now i see it on my tv display or when i press select and it shows the ps3 audio selected. Is this correct???
