I wonder did amazon keep a record of BD pre-orders for the movie before Paramount pulled the plug?

400,000 @ $30 per movie = $12,000,000.
At this rate, by the end of next year, will $150,000,000 have made Paramount any money, or just help them break even?
I know.you got that right.the mere fact that even with a $150,000,000 pay out the key is to sell the DISC's the people can spin it anyway they want. Blu-Ray is being sold in more markets thus its selling more DISC's. and even at a higher level of cost per DISC

$60.00 and some times higher per DISC and selling already in the MILLIONS of COPY'S. for your format to be viable as a replacement you need to have the new format in as many MARKETS as you can.HD DVD is not in the software industry as is Blu-RAY the thing is even when prices of MOVIES go down for your format will the game DISC'S go down in price.? .not like Movies. thus the backers can continue to sell Blu-Ray disc's at $60.00 per DISC even when they have to sell Movies at a lower cost to remain with Standard DVD prices

now HD DVD A DOES NOT HAVE THAT market OPTION sales dynamic that both Blu-Ray and standard DVD has..

Blu-Ray just sells more Disc's over HD DVD and will continue to do so...
the BDA knows that the ADOPTION is going to be Slow you have to build a market viability for your format off the bat if you intend to make sure its going to replace another format. the BDA is makeing sure there is a need for the format outside of just movies to make Blu-Ray a viable choice outside of Standard DVD. HD DVD is not doing such outside of Movies..

What happens if HDM would fail to take off and DVD continues to be DOMINATE HD DVD fails MOVIES where would that format go..back up...Blu-Ray is better and the cheaper option per GB. software...Blu-Ray is already established..HD DVD is the one that has to prove its self not Blu-Ray

you may get people to say well at least Blu-Ray will fail as a format the only way a format fails if it has not use at all..Blu-Ray already has a use outside of the Movie industry and DATA back-up. HD DVD cannot say the same thing....?

Here, he cleverly throws in that Bluray is his ultimate choice, while talking about the hi-def war in general, and not specifically mentioning Transformers on HD or even bashing HD in the process.

I also looked at the second blog post as his damage control for the first.

Right after the Paramount decision in the uproar that followed everyone was shocked that the most vocal voice against it was from the director of the studio's biggest blockbuster of the year. The retraction post was most likely after Bay had discussions with his and Paramount's lawyers that told him that saying bad things about Paramount/Dreamworks, its movies, and business decisions is a big no-no.

this time Bay made a general statement...not pointing a finger at anyone studio
though his statement is still pro Blu-Ray which is getting his point across.
Though it would be funny if there was yet another retraction yet again...
just the IRONY alone is funny both sides are getting worked up over nothing in my OPINION all in fun...i say...

Very unprofessional. I think Bay needs to keep his trap shut. I love Michael Bay as a director, but he comes of as an *******

Michael Bay is a great director. Just listen to him discribe story structure:

"First we get a car and it BOOSH! Then we CG a Sky Scrapper and we make it go BOOOSH! Then we get an 18 wheeler and it spins out of control and goes BOOOSSH!!! Then we take some motorcycles and they jump a helicopter and they go BOOOSH!"

That is a direct quote from Michael Bay...

He's right.

But,.. it's not where his money is, he missed the boat.

When he was critical of Paramount's defection he was on the right track.

Sadly he's a gutless flip flopper.

I almost think the opposite, I think he is legally having to not state his mind but trying to voice his opinion within what limits he is allowed. But looking through his movies, there really isn't one I would buy on Blu-ray or DVD. But would rent if possible for me

If you ask a child if they want 150 pieces of candy right now or wait to get 1000 pieces of candy in the long run any child will say 'I want the candy NOW NOW NOW!' Paramount is a child and Bay knows this. I think the retraction was just his way of stopping Paramount from having a tember tantrum. Bay is most likely wanting to make a sequel to Transformers and needs to go through the motions to keep Paramount happy.

Look at what happen to X-Men.
Singer - "I want to delay X-Men 3 to direct Superman Returns."
Fox - "Screw you! We'll get someone else to direct."

I would like to see a sequel to Transformers but don't want it screwed up by an idiot like Brett Ratner!

Jeez,

That's really old info about Singer and X-Men 3 but I didn't know that and having seen both films, I'm sad now. Superman Returns was harly worth watching once in my book and I love the X-Men movies.

Well then, it's no wonder we American's love his movies.

My interpretation: This war is killing both formats.

My interpretation: Blu-Ray is the better format.

My interpretation: To my Blu-Ray fans, don't worry. It will be out on Blu-ray soon enough. Since I didn't play a role in the HD-DVD authoring (because of my preference for Blu-Ray), the studio left a LOT of stuff out. Just be patient and you'll get a MUCH better release when the Blu-Ray version is released. I will make sure I control everything about the Blu-Ray release and the final product will be better because of it.

That's why TF was such a great ride!

I thought all the BOOSH's in The Island were awesome too and if it hadn't been for the big red "R" falling from the Skyscraper, it would have been a 100% movie for me.

It would be nice to see if he were to push for a Blu-ray release of Transformers in the future.

It takes a special kind of insanity to say the best movie ever made was directed by the worst director in history.
Yeah, the same kind of insanity it takes to back HD DVD now. :-)

Guys, if you have been following the "Michael Bay story" since Paramount decided to "drop" Blu-ray support and you've carefully read everything that's been said and taken into account legal contracts etc and then put together one and one, it should be clear that Mr Bay is a Blu-ray supporter.
