I posted in your other thread on this topic that according to what I've read component video can carry 1080p. However, due to HDCP limitations, most devices won't accept 1080p over anything but HDMI. So even though component video cables can carry the data, they're use is almost always limited to 720p/1080i for copy protection reasons.
