I don't understand how the Red Sox pitching staff is so bad. They built this team around their pitching, and they've given up the most runs in all of MLB, and are 17th in run differential.

I wanted to chime in last night, talking Phillies, talking pitching, Kendrick just may have finally come around which would be a big boost to the Phils rotation, he went 8.0 innings giving up 5 hits and only 2 earned runs as the Phils manhandled the Bucs 12 - 2, I know the Pirates are not playing their best ball right now , but in reality they are not that bad. Nice blast by Howard .
J. Werth an impressive .336, I hope we can sign him long term, the guy can play.
Good play by the Phillies all around.

LETS GO FLYERS !

Seems like everything that could go wrong with almost every one of their pitchers has gone wrong.

For a staff that on paper should be in the elite of the league its really amazing to see.

Angry at being benched Monday night for his lack of hustle, Florida Marlins star shortstop Hanley Ramirez said Tuesday he has no plans to apologize to his teammates and has lost some respect for manager Fredi Gonzalez.

Ramirez, the 2009 NL batting champion, committed a costly error in the second inning of the Marlins' loss to the Diamondbacks. After Tony Abreu's looper dropped near him in short left field, he accidentally kicked the ball about 100 feet toward the left-field corner and loafed after it, allowing two runners to score as Abreu advanced to third.

"It's his team. He can do whatever he [expletive] wants," Ramirez, referring to his benching, told reporters Tuesday.

The Marlins again play the Diamondbacks on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET. Ramirez is not in the lineup for the game.

Ramirez said he didn't see the need to apologize to the team.

"We got a lot of people dogging it after ground balls. They don't apologize," Ramirez told reporters, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Jeeze, why would he talk about his teammates like that? That's crazy! This guy is going to end up being a cancer just like Milton Bradley.

Haha Marlins won 8-0 today in Hanley's first game benched. Guess Hanley needs the Marlins more than they need him.

I could see where Hanley's loafing might not matter much if the Marlins were say, 12-21 and in last place. But the Marlins are a solid 20-19 and in second place in the competitive NL East.

The NL East is shaping up to be quite competitive indeed, from second place right down to last.. Phillies are on top and pretty much look strong enough to stay there and control their own destiny. .
I can stand Philly Sports .

I'm a Braves fan but I knew from day 1 we had no chance at an NL East title. I could see Atlanta or some other NL East team having a good run down the stretch and winning the Wild Card, but I'd be surprised if anyone in the NL East comes within 5 games of the Phillies.

A lot to watch on TV tonight for us on the East coast!

Second to last episode of Lost starts at 9 PM
Yankees vs. Red Sox
Flyers vs. Canadians - NHL Eastern Finals
Magic vs. Celtics - NBA Eastern Finals

And later tonight is Sharks vs. Hawks

I'll be watching Magic-Celtics till 9 then flipping between Lost and NBA after that.

Yankees-Red Sox doesn't feel as important as it used to with the Red Sox sucking and all.

This Yankee game is taking forever. 59 minute rain delay to start the game, and then Beckett took his sweet time between every pitch. After 2 hrs and 15 minutes, they finally made it into the 6th inning.

Weird situation in the bottom of the 5th...

Beckett gave up a 2 out double to Cano, which added two more runs to the Yankees score. Magically after that, the Red Sox pitching coach came out and claimed Beckett was injured, so they were allowed to bring in a reliever, who had all the time he needed to warm up (he previously hadn't been warming up in the bullpen).

Girardi complained about it, and it seems like the Yankees are playing out the rest of the game under protest. They're probably going to win anyway, but if they did indeed file a protest, I guess it's up to the AL President to determine the winner of the game. Not sure how it works.

We're talking Red Sox-Yankees. Did you really expect anything less than a 3.5 hour marathon? And ya, it looks like the Yankees are going to win handily anyway, so the protest won't matter.

Halladay pitched another gem. He just couldn't get any run support.

He pitched very well. Zach Duke pitched up to his potential today as well. If Brian Burres doesn't pitch well tomorrow, keep an eye on Brad Lincoln possibly being called up from AAA Indianapolis soon.

Carlos Silva has now matched his combined 2008 and 2009 win totals and moved to 5-0, matching Lincecum as the only pitcher with at least 5 wins and 0 losses. Cubs are moving Zambrano back into the starting rotation, but they won't say whose place he is taking. I really don't understand this. He's been horrible in the bullpen and all the starters have been good. Randy Wells has a 4.13 ERA but that is a little skewed by 2 bad starts, and he has had 5 quality starts in 8 starts. Ted Lilly hasn't been great but I'd be surprised if he was taken out of the rotation. Tom Gorzelany's record is bad but he's only had 1 bad start (and even that wasn't horrible) and it isn't his fault he never gets run support.

Very good homestand for my Rays...4-1, 3 of those 4 games were come from behind wins!

I went to yesterday's Rays/Indians game! Very good crowd for a Tuesday afternoon in St.Pete, little over 18,000! David Price look good again, improving to 6-1 on the year! Longo had 3 RBIs and Pena broke out of his slump with 2 hits and a RBI! Here are some pics, front row in right field...
