Lets not go worry ColtBoy.

Lets just hope that they all get returned next week once people figure out they are made from bailing wire and scrap metal and they don't has the backing of a clean major studio like Sony.

BlueRay must win!

So...how many of the A2 buyers are current 360 HD-DVD addon owners?

I just cant for the life of me see how this firesale can make much of a dent in the HD market. People who wait to buy a player for 100 bucks just wont be blowing 100s of dollars every week on movies. No way...

I don't think that anyone considered the fact that a lot of these players would be purchased as second or third units within a single household. This does not lead to more sales for the HD-DVD format. Also, no one considered that they would be used primarily for Upconverting DVDs. Be careful what you wish for. The number sold is not as impressive when you analyze the effects now that the dust has settled. Has anyone checked ebay lately? Seems most bought them for the free movies.

Here is some speculation to add to this. At $99.00 for an HD DVD player, customers may initially pick this up to play both DVD and HD DVD. ("For 99 bucks, how can I lose?") They may not even have an HD set yet, but are getting prepared for the future. By that time, there will be so little studio support for HD DVD, (and we all see it crumbling bit by bit before our eyes right now) that the practical use or investing in HD DVD disks will be practically nill. And anyway, BD players by that time will be so affordable and WILL have all of the bells and whistles on them for much less than we are paying now. They will simply go out and buy a BD player after seeing how many studios support blu compared to HD DVD. The other thing is that many of these are most likely Christmas presents. Bought cheap by uninformed customers. Expect many returns to the store too!

I'm not exactly sure what my point is, but it took at least 15 years for DVD players to even start to come close to these prices. Of course now you can practically get them in your cereal box.

yep, the return excuse will be this:

"I would like to return this because it can't read my Spiderman 3, Ratatouille,
Superbad, POC: DMC, Live Free or Die Hard, Oceans 13, and The Simpsons on BD, WTF, I want my money back!!!"

or simply...

"Oops, I meant to buy a Blu-Ray player, my bad"
