I'd like the original, unmolested version of the Holy Trilogy, but I have serious doubts Lucas will ever allow that. Honestly, I don't really care about the prequels or special editions. I'll probably get them at some point when they're heavily discounted, but I certainly won't bother getting them on their release date.

The option I wanted is not available: Just the OT (both SE and unaltered)

I voted for the All six with both SE and unaltered because that was the only option that allowed for it. I love the OT, and want both versions (I like the SE, but also want the unaltered for nostalgia reasons). I could take the PT or leave it. If it is included, sure why not. If I have to purchase it seperately, then I will wait for a price drop.

OT day one, regardless of which version though

Star Wars is what sold me for widescreen. The advantage is immediately noticeable when you can actually read the text at the beginning.

Ultimate; it's the one everyone can agree on. I myself prefer to watch the Special Editions when seeing the Original Trilogy, but Star Wars definitely calls for seamless branching, just like T2 did.

I'd love to have the unaltered original trilogy, but I would be just as happy with the 1997 special editions.

I will likely not rush out to buy the Blu-Rays until there is confirmation about the DVD changes where the original actors faces have been digitally replaced with the actors from the new trilogy. This bothers me more than any of the other changes that have been made.

This is one of the changes I'm talking about for those unfamiliar with it:

To be honest. If they were released at different times and over a time period where there were a few different versions released.
I would honestly say,I would purchase each and every set they released(If there were some difference between the sets)

As too much money to be made to release the whole enchilada from the beginning.
So,Like LOTR and other multiple movie sets.I feel they may have 2 or more releases.

I read the sometime ago, but it sound like an April fool's joke to me.

I don't think another Star Wars Trilogy is going to happen.

The story has been told. You could do spin-offs, but I doubt it'll happen besides the live action TV series, which better be produced in at least 1080p or 2-4K resolution with visual effects by ILM, which is a given anyway!

I don't think it'll happen, but who knows. Anything is possible!

Well, for what it's worth: I bought the SE Trilogy on VHS twice, because my first box set packaging was slightly dented.

It seems the Ultimate version would be a real hit with fans!

I would probably get that one too, although I doubt I'd watch the unaltered version more than once.

Oh, I can't wait!!! Naboo, Coruscant, Geonosis, Dagobah, Mustafar, Utapau, Kashyyyk, Kamino, Tatooine (I love Tatooine in Ep.II. The arrival is gorgeous!!!!!!!) in glorious HD!!!!

What's the planet called with the very colorful plants, where the clone troopers kill off the blue-skinned Jedi lady???

That's going to look so awesome on BD!!!

Oh, please, can't we just skip a year and a half!!?!?!?!?!?!??

I would say none of those options, I would buy the all 6 box set with the last 3 original theatrical cuts.

Although there is one new scene I wish they would keep in Return of the Jedi, the scene where it showed all the planet celebrating, that was the only alteration I liked in the original trilogy. Most importantly I thought that scene is needed in the Return of the Jedi, to show the galaxy wide oppression of the empire.

They didn't make any new Star Wars movies theres only A new hope,Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and there was talk Lucas might mess about with them and put computer effects into them but he never did.I like to believe this you see.

I only want the unaltered theatrical cuts but I would be willing to buy a big crazy boxset to get it.

Question

I'll take all 6 ...My only concern is the treatment of the older films 4-6. Will they even get remastered for high def? If they don't just how crappy will they look? will the 5.1 audio sound ok?

I've been reading lucas is not going to remaster the old films...so does this mean we are screwed on picture quality?
