Why was that even needed? That bit of info was all explained in the main briefing room later on. It's just bad writing and unnecessary. ( IMO )

While there may have been more sets, the prequel trilogy actually used more models than any films in ILM history. I always love the complaints about the CG when a LOT of the shots used actual filmed elements.

After ROTS ILM's model unit became Kerner Optical (after ILM moved to the Presidio) and is still used by ILM for modelwork, most recently in Iron Man 2.

The other week when SPIKE ran that Star Wars marathon, I watched the second half of ROTS and then A New Hope right after, and ANH was like a giant breath of fresh air due to the change over from the CGI overload to real life sets and models. (Yoda being one that I hope they fix because he STILL looks like a cartoon)

The last two PQ films just have way too much of that cartoon look to them, while the OTs look ALIVE. ( IMO )

Fantasound (assuming that you're referring to the sound system used on Disney's original release of Fantasia) was not really stereo as we know it. It was a system that used cues to direct sound to different speakers via relays. But there was no stereo sound field in the surrounds even though the sound would move from speaker to speaker.

Also, only the original 1940 Roadshow release of Fantasia was presented in Fantasound. The equipment was sent to the UK during the "lend-lease" program and was lost when the ship was sunk during WWII. It was never presented in Fantasound again. The 1941, 1942, and 1947 re-releases were presumably mono and the 1946 release was definitely mono.

The next time it was released in stereo was in 1956, but that was a standard Left, Center, Right, (mono) Surround mix.

Edit: When the film was re-released in 1990, it was released in Dolby Optical stereo, Dolby SR, 70mm Baby Boom and "70mm Fantasound" formats, but I assume the 70mm Fantasound was actually either discrete 6-track or Dolby 6-track with split surround.

Um duh I knew that, that is why I said it the way I did. If you watch the movie you can not tell when it is her and when it is not. But I like her hundreds of times better than Natalie Portman. Especially after seeing the hole, which co-stars my all time favorite actress Thora Birch.

Most of the time, Empire is my favorite. But sometimes, it's A New Hope. They are both great films for very different reasons.

The first "Star Wars" movie I ever saw was The Phantom Menace. I saw it in theaters when I was 12. I was totally bored with it. But a couple friends assured me the orignal trilogy was better. So I checked those out... and loved them!

Unfortunatly, the first time I watched the originals, they were the Special Editions. I didn't know about the alterations. And yet, there were a few scenes that confused me. I actually had to rewind the Greedo-shooting-first scene because I was confused about how Greedo missed, and why the movie suddenly became a still image. I also remember raising an eyebrow at the added CGI in the Mos Eisley sequence. Felt like something out of a different movie. Later, when I learned that what I had seen was the special edition, it made sense.
