And since there has been no official announcement of what will actually be released, a discussion of what we want isn't a bad thing.

When has a lack of an official announcement stopped fans of Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings Extended Editions, from endlessly posting on this forum as though they have been announced?

I am surprised to find myself blase and disinterested in a Blu-Ray releases of the SW films. I suppose this is because the last release of Star Wars came to DVD in such a poor manner...goofed-up, swapped surround music tracks, terrible sound/music mix, the Death Star explosion suddenly becoming black and white with a hideous blue video noise fuzz all over it...throw on the color timing and the Greedo nonsense and the SE additions, and the whole thing is just depressing to contemplate. Should I be excited to see this train wreck on Blu-Ray? I'm not. The absolute GALL of Lucas to claim that the flopped surround tracks were "intentional" so as to not pay for a recall...why should we reward people who spit in your face and tell you its for your own good?

Until I hear major corrective work has been performed to restore Star Wars in terms of color timing and sound mixing, I just don't give a damn.

Lucas has more money then he could use in 1000 lifetimes. I don't think he cares what anyone thinks.

Oh good lord, hasn't lucas already done enough to derail his own franchise? VII VIII and IX would seal SW doom, lol. (Its never good enough, and if we do live to see 7 8 an 9, it will be released, and rereleased, and re re released until the movie is totally different from the beginning product, then the endless home video releases, lest we forget.

Just so its clear, I am an avid Star Wars fan, of the ORIGINAL, un CGIfied version of the of the Trilogy. I can live without Episodes I thru III, and most definately with out VII VIII and IX. well thats my 2 cents.

I am with you man.

Those are my exact feelings also.

I remember back when the original DVDs were announced so long ago. I would practically countdown every day until its release. I took the day off that Tuesday, and when I started up A New Hope(I guess I can refer to it as 'A False Hope' now), I was utterly floored by how bad some of the picture and sound quality turned out. In fact, I tried to recalibrate my damn TV thinking that it was its fault, and finally just giving up on the futility of it, while finding out from various Star Wars forums that they were having the same problems too.

Now with this new set coming out, I just have no faith that Lucas will even give these movies a satisfactory PQ and AQ look that they and the public deserve. I can even see him releasing them in 'back in white' only stating that was originally how he wanted them to look, as to match the old Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon serials.

The excitement from these movies and their releases is now practically GONE.

How the mighty have fallen.

For someone with no excitement you sure post here a lot.

I haven't heard so much group whining since my nephew's preschool class learned they couldn't watch Cars twice in one day.

Wait until people buy this box set on blu-ray and find out what the OT looks like in HD. Going to be quite the crap storm on here and at Skywalker Ranch, believe you me.

Ok while the movies have color timing issues and audio problems, you are wrong when it comes to the picture quality. For dvd and a 30 year old film the quality of the picture is phenomenal.

/agreed

I have *copies* of those editions, on single-layer 4.7GB discs (so they were shrunk), and upconverted they STILL look awesome. I can't imagine what a Blu is going to look like.

I will admit that Lowry did a great job in the restoration, and the grain removal blew me away!

But alas...those other issues.

It depend's on what thread it is.

If it's a Star Wars thread and you put something negative, it's only an opinion.

If it's a Avatar thread and you put something negative, you are a troll.
