Default Futurama movie - a disappointment

I know it's not a Blu-ray movie, but many people on this site were looking forward to it anyway. I watched it last night and I was pretty disappointed. I own all four of the seasons and I love them. I was very angry when the show was cancelled and when I heard about the 4 movies coming out, I was psyched. However, "Bender's Big Score" is very disappointing. It is 89 minutes long but it didn't even make me laugh half as much as a standard 20 minute episode. I highly recommend you guys rent it first. I am as big a Futurama fan as they come and, after watching this movie, I have no desire to see it agian (I have seen the first 4 seasons countless times).

On the other side of things, in the special features there is a full length episode (20 min) of "Everybody Loves Hypnotoad" and it is hilarious.

not 'was', but rather 'is'. Direct to video, so it only just came out.

Man, I love this show, and had high hopes for it as well. I really thought it would've been great after seeing was Matt Groening did with the Simpsons Movie. I'm going to rent this as soon as I get back home from Thanksgiving Vacation. They still have 3 to redeem themselves though.

Ya, I think they just need to get back into the swing of doing it. And don't get me wrong, the movie has a few laughs, it just paled in comparison to most, if not all, the original episodes.

The best "cartoon" series movie is still South Park!

I thought it was aweful also, but the 2nd half picks up nicely, and the ending was great IMO. I would recomend it being watched at least by futurama fans just to get your bender fix.

It is widescreen and may be broadcast in HD on Adult Swim when it airs in 2008. No Blu-ray release though.

Ya there were definitely a few laughs. Don't forget to check out the "Everyone Loves Hypnotoad" episode in the special features. You have to fast-forward through the long stretches of the hypnotoad just sitting there, but the commercials in between are funny.

For the record I enjoyed it about as much as the Simpsons movie. Both cases are writers who are used to writing for 22 min essentially doing 4 episodes in a row, and the inexperience on the pacing shows

Both were enjoyable though
